  • I set out to make a barrage-style stand for larger roman candles. My initial design was going to be a 5-gallon bucket with a plywood stand and bracing, but I didn't feel comfortable with the safety of that. So, I opted to buy a 2-foot-long section of a 10-inch DR11 pipe to use for the this design. Once I built a platform and installed a plug on the pipe, the pieces came together perfectly.
    Because this was my first time ordering a large pipe like this, I didn't really know what to expect. Looking back, I think a DR17 pipe would have worked as well. That being said, I would rather be overbuilt than underbuilt when it comes to fireworks. In the future, I think I may build a tripod base for this tube to give it a nicer look.
