Two of Clapton's biggest hits "Cocain" and "After Midnight" were written and recorded by JJ Cale, most people that like these songs never even heard of JJ Cale.

"Your man on the Drums" is none other than the inimitable Steve Gadd..My favorite drummer of all time...He's toured extensively with Clapton for the last 20 years, and has done session work with countless people starting from around 1970...One that really stands out is his flawless drumming on Steely Dan's Title song "Aja", from that flawless album...Another signature one in the steady drum-beat on Paul Simon's "50 ways to leave your lover", and so many others.

Pretty damn good for a 70 year old man! I liked how the video editor cut to a close up of Clapton's foot pumping the wah-wah peddle during the first solo. The keyboard player was Chris Stainton, best known, perhaps, for his work with Joe Cocker as well as Eric Clapton, with whom he's been jamming since 1979. The first Clapton record he featured on was the live double album from 1980 "Just One Night". The version of "Cocaine" from that album got a lot of radio airplay back then. So when I saw that you were going to react to the live version of the song, I hoped it would be that one instead. Clapton's guitar work on that track is amazing. Check it out when you can.

Eric Clapton: the bands he was in in the 1960s and 70s: The Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominoes . Most recommended: Blind Faith, with Ginger Baker (drumming legend) and Steve Winwood (utterly beautiful singer, and organ player, I think you played him with the Spencer Davis Group)

Speaking of backup singers and deep pockets, try and check out some of the performances Steely Dan did when they had Keith Carlock on drums. Monster player, stole the show from the rest of the band when I saw them in concert and that's saying something.

Have ask you several times, well here goes again. Eric Clapton (HAVE YOU EVER LOVED A WOMAN) LIVE
He has on white shirt, guitar has orange color on top. Billy Preston (5th Beatle) destroys the organ. The song is about Eric being in love with George Harrison's
Wife. Later on they did get togther and marry in real life. This was his best live performance ever in my opinion 🔥💯

I just watched this video, and I have to agree. I have heard this song hundreds of times, but this was the first time I ever saw it played live. The first thing I noticed was the back up singers. I don't ever recall hearing them before, but as you said, they were phenomenal. I was trying to figure out... keyboards, organ and piano? Man, I'm so glad I watched this because I'm 66, and I literally never heard half of this stuff before. This was an awesome performance, and a shout out to the older folks dancing down front. 😂

This is a cover song by Eric of JJ Cale. Eric had great admiration, a geek fan over JJ Cale. With Eric’s covering JJ Cale’s songs it saved JJ Cale’s career, who at the time was just about to give up a career in music because he wasn’t getting any interest in his songs. Because of Eric he went from an obscure musician to well known.

Please react to Old Love by Clapton. The Unplugged version is 🔥! The great Chuck Levell does a piano solo that is crazy good! ✌️

Unplugged is good, but I think his version of Old Love from the 1999 Madison Square Garden concert is the best Clapton concert performance available on TH-cam. And it has the added bonus of an amazing keyboards solo by Tim Carmon to go with Clapton’s brilliant guitar and singing. m.th-cam.com/video/MoWYwm_srCY/w-d-xo.html

Mother's Finest "Fire!" The live version from 1976 is as good or better than the studio version. I'll take either one. Try it! You'll love it!

You're going to have to try some club music from the 80s and 90s. It's not rock but it's fun.

    combo....Old Love....they wrote it together.
