The idea of a “connections journal” rather than a commonplace book is a brilliant way of describing this way of collecting information. I myself have been keeping one of these in an outdated Kinbor A6 (Hobonichi Techo dupe), using the dates as page numbers and the monthly pages as a place for making connections between entries. For example, if I’m working on an entry about Carl Jung’s idea of introversion/extraversion, I would link it to my existing entries on Jung’s collected works and personality types throughout history (by putting their dates - i.e. “page numbers” - in the monthly box). I’m still working out the kinks, but the idea is to create something of a bound book zettelkasten. Thank you so much for sharing your pages - they are inspiring as always ❤
omg omg omg omg madre mía, i love so much this video and your daily life! look how cute it is !! im waiting for your next video! im dying im getting dizzy!! quickly quickly! lets go adriana!!!
I’m so inspired. Came for bingeing stationery content and left wanting to start conversations with my stash! It’s so much more intentional when you take the time to reflect rather than only capture. Thank you so much for this!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! 🌸 After moving abroad and not knowing how long I’d stay, I became more mindful about accumulating things since I might have to move again. Instead, I focused on being more intentional and rediscovering the treasures I already owned-it’s been such a calming and grounding process.
im really inspired by your way of common placing !! i common place and i do insert my personal thoughts and sometimes how some articles and quotes relate to me, but i think correlating different passages and connecting them is an interesting way of going about it and i would love to try it sometime!! what a lovely video you have become one of my favorite creators
I struggled to find a way to make it truly meaningful to me. Then, I thought back to my uni days and how much I loved uncovering connections, those windows into other texts. Now, I want to try and recapture that feeling.
I love both the philosophy behind how you approach your books, and the aesthetics / way you lay them out 😊 Have you read any of Patti Smith's other books? I recently finished 'Just Kids'. It's about her life as a young artist and her friendship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, and is really fantastic.
I love Just Kids! I read it so long ago that it’s definitely due for a reread. I truly adore all of her books, and I’m almost done with her entire bibliography, which makes me a little sad, to be honest
that skullpanda figurine is so adorable! i really loved the look at your commonplace journal, such interesting topics & i love that you draw parallels between them & let connections form 💜 thanks for the glue recommendation as well, i am always on the hunt for the perfect glue 😭found this one on sale atm, so will definitely check it out! and it's funny that you explained about the danish coin because i noticed it last time & was curious why you had it, but felt it was kind of weird to ask 😂you just can't help getting curious about people's lives sometimes! 🤔my partner is danish & back when we were just getting to know each other, i randomly found a coin just like that one in a (non-danish) airport & i didn't know before then that danish coins have hearts on them, so i picked it up as a symbol of my feelings & it's been my lucky coin ever since!
omg, that’s such an adorable story! 😂 My friends know me so well that whenever they see a coin I can use as a charm, they just hand it over, hahaha. I hope you enjoy the glue-I’m seriously thinking about getting the big version too!
Hi Adri, about the part where you said you were struggling to write straight on a blank insert, I actually journal on a blank a5 notebook and I also struggle to write straight so I started folding the pages in half lengthwise because I couldn’t be bothered to use guidelines the whole time I would write, so that way I’d only have to fill up half the page and work downwards and then move to the other half once the previous side is filled, writing straight for half a page is actually very easy as my handwriting only starts to do that thing where it moves downwards toward the end of the page when writing in a whole page. Hoping this can help hehe, oh and if you do not like the crease that folding the page would make, it can also be nice to draw a line with a pencil and ruler in the middle of the page and just erase it later ^_^
Oh!! That is such a great idea! I really should try it, because even if I am completely focused I really can´t write straight hahaha Thank you so much for sharing your tip!
I loved this. Kind of obsessed with commonplace notebooks right now. I'd love to see your 2025 line-up and how you plan and use the planners functionally.
I LOVE the idea of a notebook as a discussion. I will be thinking about this as I work on my cp books…. Also are you a fan of Henry James? I love his ghost stories too!
I was actually inspired by my university days, when I spent so much time exploring the connections between authors and how their works seemed to speak to one another. I want to practice that again as a way to engage more deeply with what I read. I haven’t read Henry James yet! I do own The Portrait of a Lady, but I won’t lie-the sheer size of it feels a bit intimidating. I think starting with his short stories might be a better way to ease into his writing.
I'd love to see your lineup for 2025 next! How do you feel about the possibility of filming a "journal with me" type of video? It would be so cool to see your process :) have a great week!

Thank you so much! 🥹

This is such an interesting video!!! I love your connections and how you articulate your thoughts verbally and on the page!
Thank you so much!

Ooh I think I can try it, but I am not sure if I can journal and talk at the same time 😂 Maybe a voiceover or a week in my journal 🤔
Sería muy guay si haces un vídeo hablando en español 🔥
¡Apuntado!
