Here's a detailed walking route from Vauxhall Station to Victoria Station, passing through Battersea Power Station, Battersea Park, and Albert Bridge. This route is about 3 miles (5 km) long and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your walking pace and the time spent at each location.
1. Start at Vauxhall Station:
Exit Vauxhall Station and head south toward the Thames River, passing through Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.
2. Cross Vauxhall Bridge:
Walk toward Vauxhall Bridge and cross the Thames River. You'll have a great view of the river and landmarks like the MI6 building to the west.
3. Turn Right Toward Battersea Power Station:
After crossing the bridge, turn right onto Grosvenor Road (A3212). Continue walking along Grosvenor Road, which runs parallel to the Thames.
4. Enter the Battersea Power Station Area:
Continue straight for a while, and soon you'll see the iconic Battersea Power Station ahead. Turn left into the Battersea Power Station development area. This is a vibrant space with shops, restaurants, and scenic views of the restored power station.
Spend some time exploring the area if you wish, and admire the architecture and urban regeneration.
5. Head Toward Battersea Park:
From Battersea Power Station, follow the signs to Battersea Park, which is a short walk to the west.
Enter Battersea Park from the eastern side (Chelsea Bridge entrance is one option).
6. Explore Battersea Park:
Once inside Battersea Park, take your time strolling through its scenic pathways. You might pass by the lake, the Peace Pagoda, and various gardens. The park offers beautiful greenery, and riverside views, and is a relaxing place to walk.
7. Walk Toward Albert Bridge:
Exit Battersea Park on the western side, near Albert Bridge Road.
Walk toward Albert Bridge, a picturesque and ornate suspension bridge over the Thames.
8. Cross Albert Bridge:
Cross the Thames River via Albert Bridge. Enjoy the views of Chelsea and the river as you walk across.
9. Walk Through Chelsea and Belgravia:
After crossing Albert Bridge, continue straight onto Oakley Street.
Turn left onto King’s Road, and then right onto Lower Sloane Street.
Follow Lower Sloane Street until you reach Sloane Square.
10. Final Stretch to Victoria Station:
From Sloane Square, head east along Buckingham Palace Road.
Continue straight on Buckingham Palace Road for a few minutes, and you will soon arrive at Victoria Station.
This route combines riverside views, urban landscapes, and green spaces, providing a diverse and pleasant walk through some of London's most iconic areas.
