    No mention that first Treasury Notes were printed on paper used for stamps as Treasury had no supplies of banknote paper

    It's a wonderful treasure trove of information. One query that I have is about the banknotes of uk which are issued by bank of england and then there are separate banknotes issued by rbs, clydesdale bank, danske bank in northern ireland. But why it is so? If you can throw some light around the same

      This issue is really complicated and occurs due to a number of reasons. It used to be the case that commercial banks in England could produce their own banknotes. However, legislation put an end to that. However, the legislation only covers England and Wales. As such, Northern Irish and Scottish commercial banks still legally have the right to produce their own banknotes under the supervision of the Bank of England.

      @@themoneyman8011 Thanks for sharing across this information. This makes sense to me. I believe it's similar to Hong Kong and Macau having three different entities issuing banknotes im different designs.
