High Prices of Electricity & Capacity Payments Issue | Energy Misgovernance

#Energy Misgovernance is a prevalent issue in Pakistan. The country has seen power shortages and higher energy tariffs overall. This collectively affected the industries and household consumers alike. Issues related to the generation of power, its transmission and decades old contracts with the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are impeding not only industrial growth but also affecting state's finances. Recently the government of Pakistan has obtained loan from International Monetary Fund (IMF) to manage its expenses, in which capacity payments are a big chunk. Pakistan now has more capacity to generate energy than ever but still power outages are normal in the summer season.
In this session "Energy Mis-governance" (of the second EconFest organized by Pakistan Institute of Development Economics) the panelists discuss issues related to capacity payments, energy generation, and transmission.

them?
7) Effective regulation is needed instead of a regulatory burden
8) The way forward is the use of technology. How to increase its use?

Wonderful video but unfortunately same solution by tousef sb which he was selling during nepra. This project is already failed in different countries. Electricity is state service. Losses in revenue doesnt mean to privatise but we should think of governance fundamental issues. Solar and Wind are just good jorgans. Major example in recent history Germany, UK, France.
