I love this tag a lot, it was so fun to hear your answers. I bought a bunch of used Miss Read books recently at a used bookstore. It made me a bit melancholic that I had clearly just purchased a stack of books by someone who had died, but it made me so happy to know that I was going to give them a good home and love them.
Don't know how I missed this video from you till now. I personally love how books can be both so enjoyable and fulfilling to read, and also be very aesthetically pleasing. X
I own multiple copies of some of my favourite books because I love the covers so much and don't want them damaged so I'll keep an old copy for reading and then have the others because I love them. A lot of my books look unread because I hate cracking spines and have learned over the years that it is possible to read books without creasing them, it just depends on the size of the book.
I do exactly the same thing! Glad I’m not the only one 😅 I also nearly always own the audiobook too so I can read them wherever I am. What is your most treasured one?
@@Claire_Fenby I've got a stunning Folio edition of Rebecca and I love Chiltern hardbacks. I've also got and old edition of Jane Eyre that was a gift from my Uncle to my Mum and then she gave it to me when I turned 21 - it isn't fancy but the one with most sentimental value so I never read it as it's over 70 years old and still in brilliant condition.
A good while ago, when I was doing my PhD (French lit), my lit peers and I all had messy shelves... Nobody cared at all about the aesthetics... (Although we did sometimes debate the merits of thematics vs publisher spine for organising...🤔) In fact, book organising was usually seen as merely displacement activity for writing. So much so, that when we went to each others houses, tidy shelves were usually a sign that the writing was going badly...!! 😂
Wow, people (men) can be so rude and ignorant (re: your Classics bookshelf video comments). Anyone who's watched even one of your videos knows how much you love classics, and how many classics you've read (multiple times). And anyone who's looked at your profile can see how many of your videos are classics-related.

I completely agree! It’s definitely a mix of both for me.
Also I’d recommend turning on 🔔 as TH-cam likes to hide my videos a bit 😅

I really envy you i wish I had the space to collect books but I live in a tiny apartment.
