That’s uh the chinchikurin version of his mother at least, maybe this show is different (chinchikurin is a spinoff series of this show and other Ryuji shows). So yes, Kedamono’s mother is not a very great mother.

I wish there was a season four to this show. I like the character development the writers gave the characters and I think it’d be cool if they threw Popee’s sister into the cast.

I've tried to look into Kedamono's mask and stuff with his mom, so I'll tell you what I've got/what I believe. So for a simple short answer, Kedamono was abused as a child. His mother made him wear the mask because she believed he was hideous, a monster, a beast. Which is where his name comes in. Kedamono means "Beast" in Japanese, so that adds on to the theory that he was abused. His mom named him Kedamono because he was a beast in her eyes. Then we have what the frog said. "The face of Kedamono... looks just like his mother's" I'm pretty sure that's close to what the frog said. If so that would mean she is also a beast. That sorta points to his mother being a narcissist (i might be way off on that). So we've got most of that down. The White Wolf. There are a bunch of theories about it. One of the most popular theories is that the White Wolf is Kedamono's mom. That would explain the flashback type thing he had. The frog saying something about his mom would have caused it, and maybe bring back past trauma. Then we come back to what I was saying earlier, about the frog saying Kedamono looks like his mom. If the White Wolf really is his mom, then that would make sense why he was called a beast. I say that because in their world the White Wolf seems pretty terrifying. Well that's what I think. I probably missed some things. I know I might have misspelled a few things, sorry. Oh and I didn't really know how to put this into words, but I tried my best.
I think that Kedamono just doesn’t want to be violent at all, like a lot people are saying in the comments, Kedamono is empathetic and kind, not like most other wolves, so he wants to hide his violent nature, also see that he ate Frog at 3:47, he was stressing lots because everyone was staring and surrounding him, then he started walking up to Popee and Papi at 3:58, probably because he was starting to lose control, but frog helped by, y’know nearly JUMPING OUTTA HIS DARN CHEST LIKE DAMN- but in all seriousness, I think that’s why he fell to his knees also because he snapped outta it and broke down, but idk, also heart-warming to see Popee drop to his knees next to Kedamono aswell.

And Poppy, what seems to be the whole episode and tried to kill him, was the only friend that stayed with him. that's how I feel about the ending based on this, his mother did terrible things, but we will never know about it
Kedamono doesn't want anybody to see behind his mask because he doesn't want to reveal his true nature as a beast. Some people suggest he's trying to act like a human by wearing the mask.. Kedamono is ashamed of his true nature. He sticks around Popee despite Popee's torment because Popee doesn't care what's behind Kedamono's mask, and he thinks that Kedamono is just..Well, Kedamono.
Remember how Popeye and Kedamono in "Mirage", fantasied about different things, and they became real? Maybe the entire series was their imagination brought to life. Plus, maybe all the objects throughout the series showing up when Kedamono’s panicking was just his imagination.
Para los que no entendieron la mamá de kedamono murió en el circo debido a que aviones destruyeron el circo ahí estaban poppe y papi,papi murio debido al incendio del circo los únicos que se salvaron fueron poppe y kedamono, kedamono querida olvidarse de su pasado y decidió ponerse una máscara ya que no queria recordar la cara de su madre,poppe y kedamono se imaginaban muchas cosas en el circo como si todavía siguieran ahí. Al final comprendieron que estaban solos sin nadie y que todo a su alrededor se lo imaginaban poppe no comprendía muy bien la situación de kedamono de el porque se puso esa máscara,al final callo junto con kedamono por qué finalmente entendió todo y se sintió muy mal de su amigo kedamono.
*En los comentarios tambien dicen que la mama de kedamono es un mounstruo y que es la causante de una guerra, y kedamono avergonzado de eso oculta su rostro porque su cara es como la de su madre y no queria que supieran que el era su hijo, y los personajes al descubrir quien era al final del episodio lo abandonan, siendo el unico que no lo abandono popee*
This episode gave me strong Spirited Away vibes. The scene where everybody arrives to know about Kedamono's real face is as epic as "Avenger Assemble" portal scene in Endgame, The Final Battle at The Black Gate in Return of the King and possibly the invasion in The Day of Black Sun. Sadly, this is the last Popee the Performer episode, unless Goodbye 2002 is counted as the last episode.
So here's my take on it. I think Kedamono hides his face because his actual face isn't really expressive (ex- his eyes are just black dots 1:29) and could be interpreted as a scary face. So to avoid confusion, he started using the masks as a way to express his emotions. I'm mostly thinking about this because the small bits of his face you can see don't really move (especially his jaw) unless he's eating. He's probably done this for so long that everyone knows him by his masks and not his actual face so naturally he would become insecure about it. He could take off his mask and show everyone his face but what if he starts getting stares, comments, and overall treated differently. That would definitely make me feel anxious and just continue with I'm more comfortable with. Idk tell me what you think 🤷♀️

i was very surprised when I found out that very few people are interested in the ending. i think it's worth telling one of the most popular theories among russian youtubers. in short,everything that happens around popee and keda is an illusion invented by them. when we see a white wolf,you can see that everyone starts to panic,explosions and shots are heard. no one can say for sure who the wolf is,but one thing becomes clear - it is connected with the war. Two friends were probably mentally traumatized due to hostilities,so they closed each other in a world of illusion. in the finale,everything disappears except for popee and kedamono. they leave their imagination

I’m assuming, Kedamono has the face of his mother, aka the white wolf, so not only does he wear the mask to cover the face “of a monster”, but his mother treated him poorly. Most likely abu$3. And because of the way he resembles that face, he has severe facial dysmorphia. And carries trauma. Which may be the reason he acts like a doormat to Popee. So he doesn’t come off as how his mother acted. He doesn’t want to be “cruel”

This show always felt to me like the japanese equivilent to courage the cowardly dog. Both have cowardly canine characters that are of an unnatral hue, and both have a combination of dark, surrealist and humourous tones in which you wonder how it was intended to be watched for kids, as well as being absolutely hilarious. And in episodes like this, they both have sad or heartfelt moments.
the frog says "kedamono no Kao WA" that means "the face of the beast" and I think that he is the son of the white wolf, that in his world is considered a beast....that is why "the face of the beast".
This will sound utterly absurd but I have a take on this ive not seen brought up, if anyone sees this then tell me what you think. I think Kedamonos mother is supposed to be a representation of Kedamono being american living in japan during the time of WW2, or having an american parent. The imagery is HEAVILY on the nose, with the WW2 fighter planes and loud sirens, the sentence "kedamonos face looks just like his mothers" makes no sense either, as it implies the characters KNOW his mother, but the information his face looks exactly like hers is what makes them leave him, the sentence could literally be directly "Kedamono has the face of an American."

Kedamono doesn't want anybody to see behind his mask because he doesn't want to reveal his true nature as a beast. Some people suggest he's trying to act like a human by wearing the mask.. Kedamono is ashamed of his true nature. He sticks around Popee despite Popee's torment because Popee doesn't care what's behind Kedamono's mask, and he thinks that Kedamono is just..Well, Kedamono.
Remember how Popeye and Kedamono in "Mirage", fantasied about different things, and they became real? Maybe the entire series was their imagination brought to life. Plus, maybe all the objects throughout the series showing up when Kedamono’s panicking was just his imagination.

Para los que no entendieron la mamá de kedamono murió en el circo debido a que aviones destruyeron el circo ahí estaban poppe y papi,papi murio debido al incendio del circo los únicos que se salvaron fueron poppe y kedamono, kedamono querida olvidarse de su pasado y decidió ponerse una máscara ya que no queria recordar la cara de su madre,poppe y kedamono se imaginaban muchas cosas en el circo como si todavía siguieran ahí.
Al final comprendieron que estaban solos sin nadie y que todo a su alrededor se lo imaginaban poppe no comprendía muy bien la situación de kedamono de el porque se puso esa máscara,al final callo junto con kedamono por qué finalmente entendió todo y se sintió muy mal de su amigo kedamono.

This episode gave me strong Spirited Away vibes.
The scene where everybody arrives to know about Kedamono's real face is as epic as "Avenger Assemble" portal scene in Endgame, The Final Battle at The Black Gate in Return of the King and possibly the invasion in The Day of Black Sun.
Sadly, this is the last Popee the Performer episode, unless Goodbye 2002 is counted as the last episode.

So here's my take on it. I think Kedamono hides his face because his actual face isn't really expressive (ex- his eyes are just black dots 1:29) and could be interpreted as a scary face. So to avoid confusion, he started using the masks as a way to express his emotions.
I'm mostly thinking about this because the small bits of his face you can see don't really move (especially his jaw) unless he's eating. He's probably done this for so long that everyone knows him by his masks and not his actual face so naturally he would become insecure about it. He could take off his mask and show everyone his face but what if he starts getting stares, comments, and overall treated differently. That would definitely make me feel anxious and just continue with I'm more comfortable with.

i was very surprised when I found out that very few people are interested in the ending. i think it's worth telling one of the most popular theories among russian youtubers. in short,everything that happens around popee and keda is an illusion invented by them. when we see a white wolf,you can see that everyone starts to panic,explosions and shots are heard. no one can say for sure who the wolf is,but one thing becomes clear - it is connected with the war. Two friends were probably mentally traumatized due to hostilities,so they closed each other in a world of illusion. in the finale,everything disappears except for popee and kedamono. they leave their imagination

I’m assuming, Kedamono has the face of his mother, aka the white wolf, so not only does he wear the mask to cover the face “of a monster”, but his mother treated him poorly. Most likely abu$3. And because of the way he resembles that face, he has severe facial dysmorphia. And carries trauma. Which may be the reason he acts like a doormat to Popee. So he doesn’t come off as how his mother acted. He doesn’t want to be “cruel”

I like the way Kedamono make those very impressive expressions.
I feel like the reason he covers his face is because he was in a war and got disfigured (because of the planes when he seems to be having a panic attack and also the massive fox thing could be a representation of a nuke maybe going off while he was there) and then when he went back everyone looked at him with discussed and fear Witch mite of given him ptsd and maybe there was some radiation to coz in one episode we see him with his mask off and what seems to be moisturiser and lemon slices on his face but I think the lemon slices on his face are supposed to be going on his eyes but... he put more then two lemon slices on his face... radiation? And that mite also explain why he keeps washing his face cause it so disfigured and needs to keep cleaning it and the sirens going off is also a sign that a boom would be coming down

This show always felt to me like the japanese equivilent to courage the cowardly dog. Both have cowardly canine characters that are of an unnatral hue, and both have a combination of dark, surrealist and humourous tones in which you wonder how it was intended to be watched for kids, as well as being absolutely hilarious.
And in episodes like this, they both have sad or heartfelt moments.

This will sound utterly absurd but I have a take on this ive not seen brought up, if anyone sees this then tell me what you think.
I think Kedamonos mother is supposed to be a representation of Kedamono being american living in japan during the time of WW2, or having an american parent. The imagery is HEAVILY on the nose, with the WW2 fighter planes and loud sirens, the sentence "kedamonos face looks just like his mothers" makes no sense either, as it implies the characters KNOW his mother, but the information his face looks exactly like hers is what makes them leave him, the sentence could literally be directly "Kedamono has the face of an American."
