I'm from a Jamaican background, UK born and raised with both parents from Clarendon, Jamaica. It is a fact many Jamaican parents treat their children with a cruelty that almost defies belief with most of it coming from the mother. After one particularly harsh beating from my mother as a child, I swore I would never beat my own children if I was lucky enough to have them. My kids have just turned into adults now and I can gladly and proudly say, I never ever beat them, not even once. The cycle of abuse has been broken.
I'm from London, UK. It's a Caribbean problem: some trace it to slavery, and brutalization of slaves (whipping, burnings, irons etc)which normalized cruelty on a domestic level. Many Caribbean writers have touched on the issue. Respect.
Captivating story! Handsome gentleman! My eyes were glued to the screen. His story is in some way the story of my daddy's life. I'm realizing with lachrymose that I'm going to miss him telling me tales of _chuppance_ and _quatti_🥺💔 Can't wait for *PART 2!*
I sincerely hope in this lifetime,I live to see a space created for men to be vulnerable without judgment or negative feedback. Blessed Love Kings,We Need You 👊🏿👏🏿💙👑
I share your same sentiments, Kasiea Stevenson. A LOT of men suffer in silence, because of fear of being ridiculed and it is deemed (according to society) as not being the “manly” thing to do. God bless you 🙏🏾
So sad story man had tear inna mi eye wen he sed madda never look fe him , but maybe his unbringing he would never become the greatest drummer pon de planet, Bless you Mr Wallace..nuff love n blessings...
its was even worst back then cause the mothers didn't have as many resources or support unless they lived with family and they got ridiculed by society for either divorcing or having children out of wedlock...
Because it’s a two persons job. Children weren’t designed to be raised by one person, unless there was a tragedy and one of the parents fell ill/passed away
HORSEMOUTH! I love dat bruddah, I just watched the movie “Rockers,” a few days ago for the tenth time, he look good, mon. May JAH continue to bless him, I enjoyed the conversation. Straight out a NYC! BIG-UP!✌🏾
Said Story of Horsemouth l used to See in South Africa that musicians and Actors getting broke when they are Older even when they are Dead not a Cent TO Burry THEM, l didn't know in Countries like Jamaica this is happening ALSO
Real bad yute know the struggle of having your hand dem bun up for trying to teef!!! The days of tough discipline now gone because pickney will ring up babylon fast.
My grandmother take my hand and try to burn it over the stove one time for stealing lol. Bwoy meh seh !!! I never forget that day. Since then I never steal much hahaha 🤣 But still, she use to thief money from we cuz she had my sis and bro dem as foster kids. This is what I call being a man. Addressing trauma, owning it, and dignifying your manhood. Not too bad🙋🏽♂️

This is why you don’t talk to women about guy stuff😂
Single households with mothers are the worst…they cannot raise children and am speaking from experience and from what I see
