Hey! So, I've been watching and learning and I've learned a lot from this channel, but I have a burning question:
In most of your videos, you start with acetone/alcohol to remove the old finish/polish, then a nurishing solution to rehydrate the leather after the removal process, then the shoe cream, then the wax for the mirror toe. But, in those cases you're usually restoring shoes rather than doing regular maintenance.
Regarding regular weekly/bi-weekly maintenance, do you need to remove the old finish/wax/polish every time if you intend on moisturizing your shoes? Wouldn't the wax/polish get in the way of the moisturizer penetrating into the leather?

Nathaniel Abrenilla Ive always had the same question. I dont wax my patina shoes for that same reason. I feel like the creams and conditioners wouldnt penetrate and if i strip the wax ill probably ruin the patina. Hope he answers

I have learned a lot from you, how little shoe cream you use, and using a brush around the sole and on the heel. And using a darker colour on the tip.
I have just finished shining my two pairs of boots over 2 days. I don't use mirror glace, as I am a woman. It's only one thing I do that you don't, the last shine with nylon panty hose. That really makes a difference.

I really start to get better thanks to your videos. But I am still slightly unsure about the amount of pressure whilst buffing it out. I think less is more, but can there be such thing as "not enough pressure" too? I've heard one should imagine doing it on a raw egg, but even there it may be not enough pressure sometimes?

Key statement: "wait 15-20 min" Some of the layers may come off in some areas since they're not a solid piece anymore until they dry. I learned this early. My dogs step on my dress shoes frequently, no other shoes, just dress shoes. Oops, did I step on your raw hide...

2-What's the function of the acetone?
3-How often I have to use the acetone on shoes?

LOL... decades ago, I worked as a high-rise window cleaner. I daily, wore a Pendleton wool shirt, pressed blue jeans, and spit-shined cowboy boots. I was working the Federal Building in Juneau, AK once, and would ride the elevator with a group of Coast Guard who all worked in that building. I'd get in the elevator with them in the morning, looking sharper than they did in their uniforms (corfram shoes too... cheaters). At the end of the day, they'd all quietly snicker as they looked down at my trashed boots and (now) dirty jeans. The jaw dropping look on their faces the next morning when I'd get in the elevator with them and my boots shined as they did before and freshly pressed jeans... I always enjoyed getting that last smile. I got pretty good at that mirrored shine with Lincoln Paste Wax. KIWI sucked.

A hair dryer is safer, since you will never char the leather with a hair dryer. Even the low setting of a heat gun can char the leather, and you've ruined the shoes at that point. The hair dryer exceeds the melting point of the wax, which is all you have to do.

The way you mirror shine your shoes I thought the shoe will actually crack like a real mirror. I have faced this flaky problem but I don't have a hair dryer so 🤷🏾

I use an electric heat gun, just need to keep it further away. Lots faster.

I normally used a cigarette lighter, lit it up, place it very close to the shoe... And shine it... No issue... Been doing it for 35 years now 😂

I convinced my wife I “needed” a heat gun so I could do this sort of thing.
