I haven't seen Mr CAriou in a long time. Many years ago, he did a film with Alan Alda called The Four Seasons. Mr Cariou is in it and, like the rest of the cast, he is superb. The film is chock full of great lines, catch it if you can.
I think the Mr. Cariou is carried away with himself. It was nothing but tasteless about the false story about what he said about Lauren Bacall and himself. First, its just an old man's fantasy. Bacall was way too classy to have anything to do with Cariou, other than work with him. The show went for 30 months, and Cariou was more of a pest rather than a boyfriend of any kind. There have been many people who have made up relationship stories about Bacall, and this is just another one.
@@madeleine9907 She wrote a lot of things in her book which were not true; and she did it on purpose. Bacall entered an acting career back in the day where most actors, producers and studio folks were very promiscuous. Today, we have Harvey Weinstein, Crosby, and the like. She was not that person. Bacall's husbands were both alcoholics and womanizers. They both drank till they passed out on the floor. Even with all this, Bacall believed in the idea of marriage. She did not know better, and besides, all her fellow actors were cheating all the time. She felt a deep camaraderie with them. She was not that floozy, and this actually cost her some roles. The book was mainly done for her kids. They lived off of the Bogart name; and still do. Sam lost his wife to James Cameron and has never been the same since. Bacall was married to the Bogart legacy. It was her lifeblood, and she rarely did or said anything to tarnish Bogie, or others in Hollywood ( or stage) for that matter. She hated that being her legacy; but realized the reality of it. She also took roles that were horrible for her as an actress ( actor). Garner had a life long affection for her, but it was only one way. He was a dear friend, but she said : " He just did not make me tingle". He even left his wife, hoping Bacall would take him in. They were lifelong friends. In closing, before she wrote anything, she called and saw almost everyone who would be in any of her books. Over the years, many had used others to further their careers. Some actors, without the story about a relationship, would not have had such careers. It's like the news stories, that still circulate today. As for Cariou; he was a chaser. She was indeed a character; a loveable character.

Sounded believable to me.
