- King Charles has visited Auschwitz for the first time, laying a wreath and paying respect to the many victims of the Holocaust on what is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the concentration camp. Earlier in the day, the King visited a Jewish Community Centre in Krakow, making a short speech to mark the 'sombre and scared moment' and greeting Holocaust survivors. Report by Tony Farag.

As an American Jew, I am humbled to see this gesture from the king. He appears genuinely emotional in this video, and I thank him for making this important and meaningful trip. Never forget, never again.
Unfortunately other genocides, even if not of the same magnitude, were perpetrated after WWII 😢. We never learn👿 !
You’re a fortunate nation England.
Your king has a moral compass and shows empathy towards others. God bless the king.
Ja die Engländer können sehr stolz sein auf ihren König samt Royaler Familie
Except his own people...
Also, much loved King of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Be corrected.
Yes, I believe he is a good man.

I was just here a few days ago , it's absolutely heartbreaking, I'll never forget it 💔
I couldn't bring myself to visit a concentration camp after seeing Anne Frank's attic. My father helped liberate Dauchu, he could never talk about it. BLESS King Charles lll on the Holocaust memorial day. May we never forget.
@ Whenever I think of Hind Rajab I think of Anne Frank
I don't know how anyone can maintain composure. I would be a sobbing mess.
A kind and compassionate Man, he is about to cry, as we all should for such evil and loss
Yes we should show compassion but the evil is still here 😭
@@johngriffin9476 You are sadly right. You would think that we would have learned something from the evil Nazis reign of terror and genocide. I do not believe that the World will every forget that part of history.

I think he did cry. He looked like he was grabbing a hankie while walking away. I can't imagine not crying there. Just looking at footage of it is moving
Rest in peace all of the people murdered❤❤
Nice to see Charles feeling well enough to travel and pay his respects in person, he's a very genuine, compassionate man, 🙏💙🥰.
not for the british people though
@@Cliff-g4w You are being unkind and you obviously have no idea what our Royal Family do to help others. I am proud that our King is reminding us of the 6 million Jews who were industrially massacred during the Second World War.
This is not a time for nastiness.
@@Cliff-g4wTroll - you’re just spewing nonsense.
@ the truth or don't you care
He and his family are hypocrites . Let’s remember all the non Jews who perished. What about Israel now and what they are doing to their neighbours. It’s the same it’s genocide
Bless him, he clearly was moved to have been there.
He finally got what he wanted. He wanted to come and pay respects and try to make sure the media doesn't turn it into a circus. He didn't want to put the survivors through that media circus at there age. You can tell that learned that from both of his parents. And we will never forget what happened ever.
A seventy-six-years old man, fighting cancer in his own body and in his family, braving the freezing cold to celebrate the memory of all the victims of ruthless barbarism, with tears in his eyes. Elizabeth II was perfect, Charles III is deeply human.
Let's hope next time he remembers all victims. Let's hope next time he remembers all victims equally without hierarchy.
The King as a caring sovereign paid his respects. 🇬🇧 🏴 🏴 🇨🇦 🇦🇺 🇳🇿
We must remember and always educate future generations about the horrors deliberately caused by the Nazis and fascists.
Well said.
Thankyou my king for visiting this awful place , and paying your respects on behalf of the people of England ! Lest we forget ! 😔😔😔😔😔
I agree with you and I am proud of our King for paying respects.
Our King does not just represent England - one country.. He represents all 4 nations in the UK and it was a Scottish King who united the Thrones of 2 Kingdoms.

King Charles is a man to be admired for his empathy and compassion. He listens intently and asks questions as he wants to know as much as possible about what took place in this terrible place during the war.

I cannot imagine what it is like to walk where all those per victims walked not knowing what was to become of them. Thank you King Charles for observing this sad day.

King Charles is so brave to go and see the suffering of the people of Jewish faith. I am not brave enough to go as it would be too upsetting to see in situ how they suffered due to the inhumanity of human kind.
I turn to mush just watching films about it 💔
Some of my relatives were killed by the nazis. One can see how moved his Majesty was therefore I was moved by him.
My relatives were involved in the Second World War II as well. We must never forget the sacrifice of all of them including the industrialised massacre of over 6 million Jews. How could the Nazis have murdered so many little innocent children?
A lot of my relatives died in WW2 fighting for their freedom....my relatives were not Jewish !
Think of all the other non-News who fought for a change and thank them !

It never should have happened!! im not really a fan of the royal family as such , but this as you can see in charles face he found to be very upsetting , it showed a side of him i have never seen before , but then as a king of england now and in the eye of every one he can not be seen to cry

Spot on. Sadly humans do not seem to learn that hatred, is not the answer.

Where His Majesty laid that wreath was the site of countless executions via firing squad. I remember seeing that wall...you can still see the bullet holes. Absolutely tragic and heartbreaking to witness. 😢 The King looked devastated...
I wish this seemed less of a photo op for some with people taking photos of Charles and focus more on why he felt it important to be there, to remember and never forget. It is important we never forget mans inhumanity to man.

I remember the late Jerry Springer visiting so moving i also remember the story of his father a survivor, as a lad he asked his father why do you keep a car but never drive it, he replied in case we need to go, god bless them and all who were taken.
God bless the King.
I was quite shocked that King Charles did not mention in his list of German victims that the Poles were killed in Auschwitz as well. In fact they were the second largest group (70,000 people). In fact, Auschwitz was built by Germans for Poles. Only later they brought there Jews as in Poland was the biggest number of them and Poland was in the centre of Europe. In big cities like Warsaw the Jews were over 30 % of all inhabitants. So my question is why King Charles did not mention Poles among his list of victims of German occupants? Especially that the Germans built the concentration camps in Poland. Germans killed over 5 million 200,000 Polish citizens during WWII. Together with Russians who invaded us on the other border there were 6 million Polish citizens - half of them Polish, half of them Jews. Did he forget?
It is very upsetting that some British people like Charles and Churchill have their own race pyramid and do not regard all human beings as equal. Perhaps the best response to the German race pyramid is not to replace it with our own version of the race pyramid. Perhaps the best response to the German race pyramid is to remember all 18 millions human beings killed in the holocaust equally. I join you in remembering all the Polish human beings who died. Their lives mattered equally.
@Ztandard32 Thank you Sir! Regards.
