Thanks for the video. I was able to reset my check engine light. Also having this tool will hopefully give me the upperhand when it comes time to buy another used car/truck.
Im looking into building a float mount, only held by magnets so it appears stock when I need it to. I have all the plans laid out, just need to decide on a tablet to use before a start the fiberglass. I wanted to wait until after MWC to see if any new Nexus devices were announced, since there wasnt ill probably pick a N7 for the project.
Hey, my dad bought himself a Cruze last year, however he only has basic radio (the satnav unit is over 1000 bucks here, quite the ripoff) - and I have been looking at having him buy a 7incher to use instead (mount it in place of the radio), what kind of build are you looking into?
how do you check how long since it was last cleared codes? (getting a used car, might want to know how long since they cleared code if there were any codes)
Please Tell me if i clear the fault code then when it come back again in my dashboard? how many time later? is that parmanently clear or clear for the sometimes?
Hi Im tryn to work out why my renault want start. I have half a tank of petrol, new battery, and still refuses to fireup. It turns over but want start. 1.6 engine.
Evtl. because he happends just in some situations... or he really had fixed the car first. But if you don't understand the codes, don't try to simply delete them !!!!! (doesn't apply for russia :D)
The problem you had was the o2 sensor like it said. When the engine has the the chek engine light on the ECU doesn't receive data from the sensor so the ECU doesn't know if he should go leaner or richer. So the ECU will be in a mode where it will make the engine run richer. This can also lead to worse fuel economy. Check engine can also come up if you floor it when the engine is cold. It's a problem in the catalyst converter. I think what I said was right tell me if not.
Thanks for the tip. Would be better if the app had a ICON for reset or clear codes-- then alerts you to turn key on then reset. I had to find this video to figure it out.
Its a great app. Have you seen the overview video I did on my personal channel? Im actually working on a tablet mount for my Cruze so ill have real time info right there in front of me without having to use my phone.
Pardon my ignorance, but why would I want to "clear the fault codes"? Wouldn't I want to actually fix the issues?? Again, sorry but I don't get it. Thank you for the video though!!
This function will clear or temporarily clear the faults/light. (depends on the situation. Since you dont have a light id say you have no faults to find!
It would likely not pass emissions unless you actually made the repair(s). Even then, the ECM would show that it had not had sufficient engine run time to recognize any problems and would indicate this. Most emissions testers will have you bring the car back after you have run at least 100 miles after codes have been cleared so the ECM has data on all systems. Just clearing them without the repairs is only temporary. However, this is in Texas in some counties in and around the larger metropolitan areas.

Great,Manny thanks to you... you have safe me a lot with this..... finding and deleting fault codes...
Does it really fix the fault or error of the car?

Hi I tried that this app and device on my renault megan , as want fire up engine. Said no codes found on ecu. But surely my car has s fault?.
Does your car have a check engine/fault light on?
Ho to find that MENU button on my phone, I don't have it ????
will the free torque app clear odb codes?

In Hyundai vehicle it's same or not?
If you clear the codes is that mean you repaired the vehicle or not??
Interesting, is the car having issues?
Good info, but how do you clear a Green Historic Fault?
You need a proper scan tool for that. I have one historical fault code 😢. Update it should clear after a few drive cycles.
Would this pass your emissions?
Antonio V no. the emission can see clwatwd codes plus you still need to pass the test.
Did you clear the codes after you got the car fixed? Or if not, why didnt the computer in the car recognised the faults again?

I would go for an Asus Fonepad probably, for voice capabilities (if needed - remember car phones?) and SD card slot for easy file transfer.

i wondered where that option was, thank you :)

could have been a fluke, and not a real problem
Emissions
Hi thx replyg back.
No there is no light on dashboard.

Love using all the features of the Torque app, but it does not clear historic fault codes. You have to use a professional code reader.
you cleared it but you did not correct what causes it.
nice, might get this adapter and app for my Mazda 3
I really dont need the phone capabilities. 32gb should be enough bot me if not i can add a hdd or ssd.
Good to hear!
Very useful video!!!
Maybe immobiliser
Mechanic over here r all ripoffs, sayn it needs a new ecu, and sensors
