    I was looking at this at northern tool does it have a condensed water drain valve to drain condensed water/air

      Rally Sport_ 5.3 Yes this does as well as all my compressors have drain valves on them. I'm a bit weird I drain my compressors after each use and leave the valve open so it can drain and dry. When I finish for the day I open the valve and close up shop. When I'm ready to use it again I turn it on, let it blow a bit more air then close the valve until the day is done. I've always done this don't know why I just do. But I have never had an issue with rust. A side note I have a water separator between the tool and compressor especially on my 100 gal IR. last thing I want is any water getting in my tools.

      @@TheShackHome so may I ask what water separator you use?

    • @TheShackHome
      @TheShackHome  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kill3rhorsepow3r51 I have an ARO system. The separator, regulator and lubricator. Its mounted about 24" from the compressor. I only use this on the 100 gal. IR compressor. not on my portable. It doesn't have a regulator on it like the portable 4 gal. has. but you could still run the separator and lubricator on it if the compressor was pretty much stationary.

    I also did a review of this compressor, after using it on the job for about a year, I also would recommend this unit but I do have a few issues with it. Did you have any problems with the paint not holding up?

    • @TheShackHome
      @TheShackHome  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      HCWD nothing at all. I did a 2 year update and the ONLY issue I had was the rubber little legs 2 wore out on me that was it

      @@TheShackHome I just watched that, and your compressor seems to look alot better than mine. I gotta say, performance wise, its awesome. Maybe I'm just hard on my equipment.

    hows the air compressor today, I'm in the market for new one. So far I wore out a dewalt, Ridgid and a campbell hausfeld. I've been looking at IR models and want to know what you think about it 2 years later?...

      Duane i have absolutely no complaints. I've had this on many jobs and projects in the shop with no issues at all. Changed the oil about a month ago hasn't missed a beat. I personally like IR i have an OLD IR in my shop that never misses a beat and its a good 15 years old. With that said the ONLY thing that has come up is the rubber legs one cracked and slipped off. I slapped it back on it still works i don't know if lugging it around caused it to break but after closer inspection i think i just might try replacing them all with something like polyurethane body lift spacer. I think that would be an up grade. I don't want to be replacing these every year. Thanks for viewing hope this helps.

    Besides small home projects, Do you think this air compressor is also good for filling a leaking tire with air ?

    • @TheShackHome
      @TheShackHome  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Albert Angilletta yes. This little work horse can do it all. You can dial it for what ever you need. 30psi for a pinner or 110psi for a framing nail gun. And everything in between. I've had this over a year and just changed the oil and this is as good as the day I unboxed it. Than you Albert for viewing.

      Even a pancake compressor will do fine, filling tires. I just got this compressor second hand.

      +David Stinson You won’t be disappointed. After 8 months of use I’m absolutely happy with it. It can even keep up with my impact when I rotate the tires on my cars. It may be heavy but a solid work horse. From impacts, nail guns to my new air brush it is unsurpassed. Good luck and enjoy. Thank you for viewing.

    Review on my new portable air compressor

  • @cb7s4life
    @cb7s4life 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    FUCKING SOLD. I've spent the last two days looking for a portable air compressor. This has the highest cfm (4.3 cfm @90psi) of any portable air compressor in this price/volume bracket 4 gallon with the exception of the Dewalt d55146 which good luck finding at msrp retail price. I've worked in several garages throughout my 14 year career IR is the industry norm for quality shop compressors I had NO idea they made portable models. I like several features of this model over the Dewalt model. 1. Call me oldschool but the maintenance free feature of the Dewalt (ie oil free) I find off putting - this is a mechanical machine and mechanical machines like to be lubricated. 2. This brand is the norm for giant 3x older then me iron air compressors which aside from osmium and Trump may be the densest longest lasting items known on earth. Like op said the machine will outlast him-in this case the weight of the machine is an indicator of it's quality-it's over engineered. 3. The IR has a easily accessible filter. 4. THERE'S A MOTHER F'N DRAIN VALVE. Every compressor ever accumulates moisture so good on them for having an easy af drain port. Downsides Dewalt model is higher psi and better cfm which will be a trade off I suppose-once again the oil free part of this model scares me also the Dewalt model has built in sex appeal-wheels. I can easily get around that with a dolly and welding. Great video.

      Thank you. I have to strongly agree. the main reason I chose this over any other brand is the fact it has OIL. Oil free is a bandage and will sooner than later need to be replaced, I don't remember if I stated it or not in the vid I have an IR for the shop I bought about 15 years ago that was use from a machinic shop that had it for I don't know how many years, The thing is still going strong. A proven record I stand behind before I go oil free. Its not really a lot of money to change this every year. The oil last and I don't use it like is was before I bought it and this portable one I use but not as much as when i first bought it. starting to do less work and do more fun thing in the shop so not too many jobsites and when I do I usually grab my wheelbarrow load it up and wheel it where I need it. but it mainly sits next to my table saw 80% of the time now so this will outlast me for sure. Great comment Thank you and thanks for watching. I know it was rough it was my very first video to TH-cam.

    i want to connect this compressor to a portable generator. What are the surge wattage/run wattage of this compressor? thanks

    • @TheShackHome
      @TheShackHome  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Publi i cant find anything on the suge wattage. it's a single-phase 120v AC 60Hz motor. IR recommends the use of a 20 AMP outlet but a 15 AMP may be sufficient. Hope this helps.

    Can it run two framing guns at the same time constant?

    • @TheShackHome
      @TheShackHome  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rio that's a tough one. One frame gun it does great. I've had 2 finish nailers going with no issue. 2 framers going i honestly couldn't say. now if this was maybe the next size up having bigger supply tanks id say yes. I cant remember how many shots i get out before it kicks on when i'm using my framing gun.
