    Honestly I buy these boxes because they’re actual instruments to play. And they’re like toys that inspire me to play. I also work on my computer and just don’t want to move the mouse around a screen, that brings me no joy. But pressing buttons and turning knobs live on a table is just incredible fun

      no lies detected. I think a lot of people get caught up in “can it do everything” though or is it better than a computer and that’s a really hard question to answer depending on who’s asking

    I got one a couple months ago. The Syntakt is just a great size and workflow to work out an idea while lying on the couch. I tried a Maschine on my lap but it's too much bulk.
    It can get kinda warm though, but for the winter that's kinda nice.
    Now I just need to resist being sucked into the ecosystem.

    Man this was a profound review. I totally agree with everything. Elektron was my intro into making electronic music and it WAS difficult to make music i was proud of solely from it

      Thanks so much for watching! I think having the right expectation for stuff is the key to figuring out if a piece of gear is useful or not. I will likely do a video soon on the topic

    Digitakt is my favorite Elektron device. It took me months to get into the workflow, but once I did it was amazing. You can literally do anything with it since it uses samples. Octatrak is wild. I'm learning the Analog Rytm mkII now.

    • @Alckemy
      @Alckemy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I went with the octatrack over the digi because it supports stereo samples, although I think you lose the stick time stretch algorithms

      How you finding the Rytm?
      It took me a while to get into it but love making stuff on it now.

      I have 4 Elektron boxes. DT, ST, A4 and Rytm. Rytm is nice but I was very disappointed with the pads. Mine are very inconsistent in when they get triggered. Sometimes it’s touch when on mute mode and sometimes I have to hit them hard in Play mode just to get them triggered. To me it’s a big deal but I can work around it. For that money I’d expect it to work perfectly but mine doesn’t. Otherwise it’s a lot of fun

    • @RP-mp4ow
      @RP-mp4ow 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ExpectResistance i had the Rytm back in its early mk1 days.
      As a solo piece of gear its pretty cool and you have a pretty good variety of sounds to work on. But if you have an existing setup that youre wanting to add to and arent a fan of the more techno neighboribg genres you might be like me and constantly thinking of selling it until you finally decide to.
      New update looks amazing. I might make the same mistake 3 times 😂

    I've been a Elektron user for many years now and I found your channel a couple years ago after I switched to Bitwig so it's really nice to see you using Elektron's machines and get your perspectives on these devices. Happy for more content like this.

    I want to start getting some analog gear, but only because I really like the idea of being able to make music without staring at a screen. Especially since I could get a rough draft going with the gear and then finish within Bitwig. I'm probably going to get the Novation Circuit though because of the price. :)

    Hi Alckemy Neuro,
    I am a 16-year-old creative and would love to hear your insights, as well as advice for young producers. What would you tell your younger self? What trials and tribulations have you run into during your journey as an artist?
    Thank you very much for your art. You are an Inspiration to many.

      I ran into obsession over sound design rather than getting into just making the music I wanted to. Find the big artists you admire and see if they offer lessons. Look for perspective over details when watching videos or learning

    I initially really liked the Syntakt, but I'm growing tired of having to work so hard just to get a usable drum sound. Some of the digital machines sound like a toy.

    • @Alckemy
      @Alckemy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you’re using it as overbridge then a hard clipper will get you some really nice 808s. But by itself I wouldn’t expect it to be able to make the slammiest drums.
      You can double overdrive via the fx blocks though and then gate the sounds with a trigger, or use filters and envelopes to boost a fundamental, but yeh that can be work.
      My advice is to sketch in the box and then blow your drums and sequence up out of overbridge
