Looks like it takes more effort and a good pair of walking shoes compared to a razor sharp block plane? Those indexable carbide cutters you use are not sharp, but are adequate on machine tools with lots of power. Check out endmills ground from micrograin carbide blanks, they are super sharp.
Would a light weight torque wrench be helpful in setting the screws @ 04:49 on the timeline?

No heat treating?
Hi Olaf - We heat treat after we use the rougher.
This is clearly the Achilles heel of this plane. It's hugely awkward and time wasting based on the design. Really frustrating.
