    Awesome video guys, appreciate it! It would be nice to see how you level in the flagstones or how you level in the fire ring blocks, but that's pretty self-explanatory, ha.
    Cheers,

    I've worked doing mosaics so for me to put down this flagstone will be like doing giant mosaics. And I know where to get the flagstone for nothing at a dump somewhere and all it needs is to be cleaned and shaped and maybe picked with a geologist pick.

    How deep do you dig the circle? And how thick is the gravel layer? Thank you.

    How are u leveling this on that SLOPE??? The bubble will never be level

    • @musicguitar
      @musicguitar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Basically you want it parallel to the slope meaning the bubble needs to be in the same spot throughout the entire area.

    How much do these run? I know it diffs by location. Just an avg will do? And also, does one need to contact anyone from hoa, fire dept, etc before starting?

    What is the purpose of the snap edge?

    • @thenerdnetwork
      @thenerdnetwork 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That edging that goes around the outside of the pavers is for helping prevent horizontal, vertical, and rotational failure. If you skip this step you are relying on just soil to keep everything in place, so freezing/thawing and excessive rain will cause the pavers to begin moving slowly over time, which then causes your polymeric sand joints to fail, which then causes dust and dirt to enter in the joints, which causes grass/weeds to start growing and insect activity in the joints, which further causes failure of the patio. This step is just to prolong the life of the project, helping assure that everything stays the same as the day it was set in. The snap edge itself is just a feature that that particular company uses to make all the edging physically connect to each other. Some companies that manufacture paver edging have the ends flush (or flat) and they do not physically connect to each other. Ultimately you dont NEED to have the edging snap together, all this product really does is saves you 1 stake for the paver edging every time you need to lay down another piece of paver edging.

    Great video. You explained the install in a good time frame. Nice clean work. One question though. Do you have a drain hole in the pit for the water when it rains.

    • @ByGraceIGo
      @ByGraceIGo 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We built a fire pit once and it's advisable to put River gravel on the bottom of it for this kind of drainage you don't really have to drain it out as it doesn't get real filled up with water unless we're talking about monsoons. Ours never got filled up. Just a bag of river gravel you know that nice round gravel that you see in landscaping. He should have at least answered you. I see that you asked that question 3 years ago did you ever build your fire pit and what did you do about the drainage?

      Galvanized coating will smell great while burning off, hope the home owner doesn’t plan on cooking over it either.

    Not really a "how to" for a beginner. It looked nice though. I agree with the galvanized ring - why not buy the correct ring.

    Why no responses to comments. The flagstone retainer (paver retainer) brand or source.? Did you hut the outside of the flagstone to better fit circle? A great video but 0 follow up. That makes this a 3 instead of a 5.

      It’s not level. I do this for a living and any good eye can tell by looking at the fire pit block that it’s not level

    pitch: rise to span , slope: rise to run
