I used to date a swedish guy back in 1996-1997 as a finnish girl. We were very much into hard and loud rock and punk music. When we met I asked him what is the best finnish band ever. He told me STONE for sure. He asked me the same question for a swedish band....I was telling eeehmmm...Abba? He told me "yes, exactly".
so weird seeing roope so young and vibrant... i wish he'd gotten more solos and oppurtunities to shine in cob, like in sinergy. gotta love that roope/alexi action haha
I remember Roope from those 80-90´s Stone as a always smiling and full of twisted energy. We released underground metal magazine with my friend, and quite often were at Stone gigs talking s*it with them. Never got autograph without illustrated v*gina from Roope. Once we had a peeing competition after show - who makes the highest mark on concert places wall. Well, they were taller than me, and their tour manager huge. So shitty contest of my opinion.
I am glad I got to see them live a couple of times in 88-89 and hang out a bit afterwards. Jiri & Roope were THE dynamic duo and the absolute best Finland had to offer at the moment back then. If you want to understand the comedy and humor behind it all, you have to study Pahkasika, Kalle and Jallu magazines from 1987-89 very hard.
Without this band there would have not been Roope Latvala (one of the founding members of STONE), who went to play in Children of Bodom.. And Alexi Laiho was born out of that later history as well. These guys are the Finnish Originals. I did see them play on many small venues in Finland when Heavy Metal in our country was considered from the Devil. And they were THE only finnish Speed Band. (ok. there was Airdash and couple of others as well)
Second song I've heard after seeing a short documentary about Finnish bands these guys are f..King great! They're great musicians snd they Rock but have a groove too!

Yes, it's him with the RR models. The flying V guy is Jiri Jalkanen. Roope changes guitars since string breaks in around 3:40, you can see him playing with the other strings for a moment and then changes the black one at 4:05-4:30

On No Anaesthesia Roope used a moded Lee Jackson gp1000 preamp and the sp1000 poweramp. He used Marshall cabs and in them are probably the g12t-75s.
