Greetings from 5.5 years later, holy cow! Much as this video is embarrassing to me now, the transcription I made is still in good shape, and I recently went through and cleaned it up even further. Grab it for free here gumroad.com/l/DMM_EverythingsFine
I've been listening to this at work lately. This is great work, well done! If I ever want to cover this myself, I'm definitely coming back to watch you play the piano parts again. Found a link on Reddit of all places
Thank you! Although the source material is the amazing part, I think. Playing around for a couple ideas of fun things to do with EGO/ECO, thought they were phenomenal as always!
@@blumenmusicI just want you to know, I came back to watch this again and show a friend because this is very talented and worth pursuing. 2 years later to be exact..
Yeah, I actually do need new strings, but this is the only bass I have, so I'm trying to figure out a balance of gauges that'll work okay in standard or downtuned at least to drop A. I know there's not a perfect setup, but certainly better than what I've got now! Thanks for the tip.
Overkille1 Hmm, there's a bunch of instruments, which were you hoping for the sheet music for? ;) Unfortunately, I don't have anything written down for any of them, which in hindsight was a little silly, would have been easier to just read off a score for the piano part than to memorize all the little embellishments! Don't know if it helps, but generally the chord progression for the opening piano part is em7, bm7, Cmaj7, am7. Sometimes it's an a-sus, or the one at 1:52's got that deceptive Neopolitan-ish Fmaj7. Good luck!
yeah i would've liked a written sheet for piano since i studied music in a french school we don't communicate in the same way so i didn't get a word of what you're saying i would appreciate it if you had the piano sheet :/ but thanks anyway
Didn't notate it, sorry! Finally bought finale recently, so probably in the future I'll start writing things down. However, to help out a bit in the first song, the chords under the piano melody are generally: em, bm7, CMaj7, am7, or some variation thereof. Same when the strings have the melody. Last chord is a funny voicing of FMaj7. Hardest part is remember all the ornaments of the melody in Everything's Fine. Sorry I can't be more help!
I do not, sorry! Honestly, that would have made it easier to just write it out, remembering which ornaments go on which repetition was super annoying, but I was stubbornly trying to commit it to memory from the get-go. Don't know if it helps, but generally the chord progression is em7, bm7, Cmaj7, am7. Sometimes it's an a-sus, or the one at 1:52's got that deceptive Neopolitan-ish Fmaj7.
The tuning is insane, DMM uses a crazy system. Bass is tuned Ab-Eb-Ab-Eb-Ab low-high. I didn't cover guitar, but just in case you were looking for that too, he tunes it Ab-Eb-Ab-Eb-Bb-Eb, low-high.
Fred MacKinnon Of which section? During the opening slow piano/violin duet, it's e minor. The section starting around 5:13 is B Major, although it outlines some sus chords and has a more pentatonic feel. And lastly, 6:28 is g# minor, so same notes as B Major scale! Good luck!
I can really notice that you dont play bass you sound a little of tempo in some parts and for the bass tone was not so good and the violin you could added some reverb it would sound more alive this cover sound a little beat weak really nice but not quite there you know ?
Hey thanks for all the feedback! Would love if you checked out a more recent video, these older ones are practically unmixed audio, bass mixing is more solid now (new bass helps ;) ) I'm not huge on adding a bunch of reverb, creates visual discontinuity with what the video is (strings in a small bedroom --> close sound with little to no reverb), although I agree that a little bit would obviously help the sound in hindsight.
Hey, thanks for the feedback... You'll notice that there are a large number of, whatyacallems, 'words' underneath the video. This is a cover, I did not write the music (although I would certainly agree that is is well written!). I also am aware that the bass is rather loud, that was purposeful, this is a cover, you'll notice that the piano and strings are a bit louder than the guitars as well. Since I am not the original artist, I cannot 'turn up the vocals', I do not have access to the original tracks. Plus, this is designed to be a cover, and since I did not cover the vocals, it seems silly to emphasis them. If you would like to hear the original song, I would highly recommend it, and can be found on David Maxim Micic's bandcamp, itunes, amazon, etc. Link in the description underneath the videos (it's the series of blue letters that should be clickable).
Aww, and here I was thinking my mix was getting better! Thought the piano was nice and clear, and bass was less boomy than my other videos. Do you have any tips? I finally got a bass stomp box last week, so in the future I can tweak my tone a little more...

Thank you much!
thanks for sharing ur talent :))
Thank YOU for checking out the video!
tip for tone:
Get a fatter string set if you are going to tune all the way down to DMM's tuning.

My god, you have to post the sheet music for the piano. Seriously!
Didn't notate it, sorry! Finally bought finale recently, so probably in the future I'll start writing things down. It's cool man, phenomenal work on this by the way, keep it up!

Blumen! Alright, thanks!
Do you have sheet music? Can’t find anything, searched for ages
What tuning is the bass is? :) Lovely!
David uses this wonky open tuning for guitar that I used as the basis to guess at the bass tuning! From low to high: Ab Eb Ab Eb Ab
What is the bass tunning? Tx and great cover! :)

What key/scale is that violin part in?

Hermoso trabajo pero ese vacio de la guitarra le quita la perfección

Great to hear but you play very nice on piano but you play the best at the violin it sound very smooth and clean
well written but the bass sounds too loud and the tone isnt that great. would like to hear the vocals turned up a little bit

Oh this would have been much more great if this was well produced ! Impressively well played but poor audio prod :(
