    STILL the BEST tutorial around to learn Turk's head knots and pineapple interweaves! Bruce Grant's book made no sense to me as it uses a different approach than this, and it is very confusing, but this makes a lot of sense.

    Of all the Herringbone tutorials I've watched, yours has to be top shelf. The narration and focus of the "flow" of the knot, vs. the "over x, under y" rote method is excellent advice. Bravo Zulu, m8!

    Thank you. After years of trying to learn the "feel" of this knot, I finally learned how to tie this.

    Thanks for taking the time to explain the fundamentals of this knot. Good video!

    Thank you for actually explaining how a turk's head is tied and why. I recommend you put these multi-part videos into a playlist so people can play them all in a row.

    Thank you for the wonderful explanation. You have a great understanding of the knots and the patience to explain in a manner that's understandable by everyone. (At least by me, I was confused until now). Thanks again 🙏🏽.

    Excellent videos, you mentioned braiding leather and rawhide!
    Do you have a books or suggestion so I may have a reference for rawhide braiding?

    hey i noticed you corrected the video..... on a type 1 pineapple the bights are nested in the casa knot and the herringbone are nested outside the casa knot unless you are doing type2,3,4 etc etc.... then it's a whole different ball game.... great vid btw

    How long are the pieces you started with??

    • @Knottactical
      @Knottactical  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On this knot they were about 5'. The mandrel I used is a piece of 3/4 schedule 40 PVC pipe.

    If someone would send me a video of how to braid a rawhide sheath for a folding knife, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

      Maurice Mason what is the ideal length of a mandrel in inches or is just a ft. good enough to work with?

    • @Knottactical
      @Knottactical  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyrell Laney,Sr whatever is comfortable for you. I usually care more about diameter than length.

    • @mrlaney79
      @mrlaney79 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maurice Mason so is 3/4 a good diameter to go with?

    • @Knottactical
      @Knottactical  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyrell Laney,Sr there is a relationship between mandrel diameter, cord size and length, and knot size. For this knot, tied with 550 cord, yes 3/4 is a good size.

      Knottactical Thanks u only use 550 cord @ the moment

    I've had Bruce Grant"s book for 10 years. I could never get anything out of it but the Spanish ring knot. And if I remember right he even got the diagram wrong on that. I think after a life time of having a hard time getting the old timers to show him anything he decided to put together a deliberately worthless encyclopedia.

      tyvek05 There is a mistake in the Catherine knot. I know it because I fought with it bitterly until I got it. And as Ron Edwards he doesn't know the difference between a Pineapple knot and a Herringbone knot - which is a mistake many make. Otherwise I would say it is very resourceful book with mostly very good drawings. But one should also say it can be a bit hard for absolute beginners.
