Christopher Reeve turn down a lot of roles before his paralysis including American Gigolo, Urban Cowboy, Body Heat, The World According To Garp, Splash, Romancing The Stone, Lethal Weapon, The Bounty, Fatal Attraction, The Running Man, Total Recall, Pretty Woman, Philadelphia, & Hannibal
Reeve once stated "said, "I found most of the scripts of that genre poorly constructed, and I felt the starring roles could easily be played by anyone with a strong physique."

I disagree with Culture and Andre . I agree with Tom. Christopher Reeve was a accomplished Broadway actor before being Superman. Yes he he would have struggled in the 90's like Keaton but he was a good actor and I think he would have been offered a movie like Birdman or some other small movie that would have been successful and like Keaton had a late career resurgence . Also I agree the superhero crazy would have seen him offered roles . But sadly we will never know and can only speculate. Only I know for sure he is in my opinion the only Superman on and off screen.

@bryantbarth9051 I'm pretty sure the role in Hannibal was offered after he was injured, if indeed it was offered. He did have several significant acting roles after the accident.

The drama is more entertaining than the movie itself, which I happily watched a Bootleg of.

The 90s had Ghostface (I know it’s technically always different people but always the same mask and costume that’s still all over shelves at Halloween stores) and Candyman. 2000s I can’t really think of any that became household names, but the 90s had them. I also disagree that Scream did “damage”. The slasher movie was practically dead when Scream came out, and it totally revived the genre.

Handbrake (the current version) *can* convert without a loss of quality, Tom, but it takes several steps, will jump a 1.56 GB mkv file file to around a 4.5 GB mp4, so you need extra memory, and some easy-to-use film-editing programs aren't "friendly" with movies over 4GB.

Funny enough, First Daughter just landed on Netflix. And then there was Jack Frost. That *is* a Hallmark movie, you know.

How is Dracula a good guy in 1992 movie ? He kills innocent people - most noticeably he throw baby to his vampire brides, which is scene from original novel - he turn Lucy into vampire and she then prays on innocent kids... Sure it's more romantic version of vampire - with silly plot point of Dracula failing in love with Mina because she reminds him of his dead wife - and more tragic interpretation - since it this version Dracula was a Christian knight who stopped Turks from conquering Christendom yet God cursed him - but Dracula is still a bad guy ; maybe tragic and romantic but still a bad guy... IMO, that's the biggest problem with film; it claims that's it's faithful adaptation of a novel and at the same time it add all this romantic stuff on top... Other than that I consider it to be one of the best vampire films ever made !

You didn’t mention 1979’s Dracula, directed by John Badham, starring Franklin Langella.
Still a villain, but the film really played up Dracula’s sexuality.

*_Friday the 13th_* 2009 didn't get a sequel because the studio was being dumb, not because it didn't perform well at the Box Office, which it very well did considering its budget. Granted, it should've been made for even less than what it was.

    • @BrandonTharphorrortownusa

Well you are somewhat right the film did make a profit because of the opening weekend gross but it took a massive drop of nearly 81% in it's second weekend. That is a bad drop even for a horror movie. Plus the film received terrible reviews from fans of the franchise so the likely hood of a sequel being a boxoffice hit wasn't very high.

I will never understand why some see Christopher Reeves portrayal of Superman as "definitive". I always found his Superman movies shallow and lame, whether that was fully his fault or if the Director/Producer/Writers had a large part I can't say. But I stand by my statement that his films was horrible on so many levels. I always assume anyone who likes his film base their opinion on how similar the portrayal was to the Superfriends cartoon.

Reeve and other typecast actors suffer(ed) from myopia as it pertains to their careers. Reeve didn't go into acting to become "Superman," as Nimoy didn’t go into acting to become "Spock." So, being typecast into an iconic character was something they weren't really prepared for. But even so-called "great" actors can easily become has-beens, while the typecasting that iconic characters such as Superman, the Star Trek/Star Wars/Indy actors, etc, achieve puts them into a unique position.
Would anyone remember Carrie Fisher or Nichele Nichols were it not for Leia and Uhura? Would anyone remember Adam West or Burt Ward?
Was the problem that George Reeves couldn't reconcile his larger than life Supeman persona with the fact he wanted to be a "serious actor" respect by snobby critics ultimately his downfall? Wasn't it better to be beloved and adored by millions of children than to be remembered for some "great performance" that everyone forgets about?
Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor were great actors, but I watch reruns of the old Superman with my daughter-- and I couldn't care less if we see a Burton/Taylor film.
