  • How long can you live with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer? In this video, Dr. Rafael Fonseca, a multiple myeloma specialist with Mayo Clinic, discusses how survival rates for multiple myeloma patients have dramatically improved in recent years.
He emphasizes we are seeing more and more myeloma patients living 10, 15, even 20+ years compared to just a couple decades ago when median overall survival was only slightly over 2 years.
Multiple myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells, a type of white blood cell present in bone marrow that normally produces antibodies. As the cancerous plasma cells multiply unchecked, they can cause damage to bones, immune problems, and other complications.

@@ElephantsRock19 Thomas Seyfried, Ph.D.: Press-Pulse - A Novel Strategy for the Metabolic Management of Cancer
What's interesting is that Dr. Seyfried's research is apparently entirely privately funded. He is at odds with most of the medical community who keep pushing the "cancer is genetic" model. Big money would be lost if it were widely known that there was a less costly/ less invasive effective protocol. If you subscribe to the belief that cancer is metabolic then fasting is probably very beneficial. For a good overview check out

It's 80 minutes long and worth it.
      Best of health!

My husbands ashes are on the mantle of our home, after 3 years of treatment. Never going into remission.

So sorry to hear that. It's difficult if next to impossible to get cutting edge care.

I'm sorry for your loss. My mother survived three different types of cancer and died at 81 from a stroke and I'm a 31 year survivor of a rare form of cancer myself. Unfortunately, my father died from cancer at 62 and my husband died at 57 of cancer. It's a dreadful disease. I hope that a cure is found for your husband's type of cancer soon.

@@jaycarver4886 Exaxtly. I don’t really think he had the best of care. All I can do now is pray for others, because this is one that I don’t think they will ever accounts they have a cure for. Everyone makes too much money on this disease ! Can you imagine how empty the hospitals would be IF no one had Cancer !! Cancer is a BIGG CASH COW for the hospitals, pharmaceutical & Undertakers !
