There is an easier alternative to this. All you do is reset your control setting to default then reapply your past settings by remembering it or simply by taking a screenshot. Hope this helps!
That is a way that is supposed to fix it but the only way me and my friends could fix this bug was by doing the steps in this video, I'm glad that works for you though!

Yeah nothing is lost, its all on cloud
It only resets your settings and doesnt affect anything else that is all server side

On Xbox, this didn't fully fix it, but this made it 10x more bearable to play. I thank you for showing us this.

what happens if i delete saved data in r6...will i lose anything
It just resets your settings nothing is deleted
Is this console only? I know he was on the ps4 when he did that.
I believe this only works on console I'm on PS5 in the video, I don't know how you would clear your cache on pc you can try looking it up though
