- Block Island is one of the best islands in the East Coast. Located 12 miles off the mainland in the Atlantic Ocean , block island is famous for beautiful beaches , crystal clean waters , dramatic bluffs and delicious food. Block Island can be reached by ferry from different places such as Rhode Island , Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York etc. You can also fly to Block Island by helicopter charters.
Start your journey with taking a stroll in the old harbor district . The Main Street is the Water Street with hotels welcoming tourist for more than 100 years to different boutique shops and restaurants.The best way to explore the island is to rent a bike or a moped. There are multiple businesses in the island which rent bikes and mopeds. We rented from Island Moped, located on the water street just in front of the ferry terminal.Once you have a bike or moped , you can explore the island easily.
Climb down 141 stairs to the beach and see the famous Mohegan Bluffs.
The Mohegan Bluffs are large clay cliffs about 150 feet high, located on the southern shore of Block Island. There are 2 lighthouses on the Island , the North Lighthouse and the Southeast Lighthouse. Both the light houses can be easily accessed.
Crescent Beach , Mansion Beach and the Ballards beach are some of the popular beaches in Block Island. Ballards beach club located on the Ballard beach provided good food and drinks. You can also rent chairs and umbrellas. This is a good place to spend some leisure time on the beach.
Block Island has more than 30 miles of hiking trails. Some of the popular trails are Clay Head Preserve, the Enchanted Forest, Nathan Mott Park, Rodman's Hollow and Turnip Farm.

My aunt had a house on Block Island and I spent 2 months every summer there for 18 years with my family. My first jobs, got my license there, had amazing summer experiences and thanks to my aunt, we had summers with unforgettable memories. If you visit, really get to know the history of the Island and the richness of that history.

Uuuuuh the beach access beach at 3:40min looks like the nothern coast beaches of germany. Reminds me of the windy and changing coastal experiences here in germany. Super beautiful.

If I remember correctly, its one of the beach access of Crescent Beach.

Block island is our favorite place! The smells on the island are amazing! We stayed at Spring House Hotel, pricey but everything on block Island is pricey but worth it!
So true, block island is so beautiful and we had a great time out there. Also agree that it’s a bit pricey, have seen so many folks who just plan a day trip to Block Island.

Thank you! You can park your car near Pt. Judith ferry terminal. There are lots of parking options within walking distance. We didn’t book the parking in advance, it was mostly first come first serve.
