Don't depend on this video. Watch the 18 minute video from the Learn to Play Games channel. They have a "how to play: funkoverse" video that's WAY EASIER to follow. I thought it was ridiculous too until I watched that video, then my wife and I started to play and it's honestly not as hard as this or the instruction manual made it seem. I'm sorry you had trouble and were frustrated. Trust me i TOTALLY get it!
I’m stuck, how do you play the nightmare before Christmas one? Also I got a expansion pack (Kool Aid Man) and when adding him to the game it’s more confusing ._. Also how does the allies component work with playing with 4 players..?

Funko Games hired The Rules Girl to do this video. They used generic figures and features to ensure folks knew that it was the same core rules no matter which set you have. :P
I hate to say this... but I am almost more confused after watching this tutorial. I don't understand how most of the comments are praising this tutorial. it is very well done and had excellent production value, but the content does not make things very clear. I have watched other rules girls videos and found them all to be much better than this.
This seems like a super simplified version of Heroclix. Might be decent. Do the games come with random characters or are you supposed to use your own figures?
The characters are sold in sets, and aren't random. They display the characters on the front of the box, plus you can mix characters from various sets to your hearts content!

At first it is super daunting to learn but once you do learn it you realize that it is quite simple

you use both your moves with that character or you use 1 move with an adjacent character i believe
