    I love it when you run around my old neighbourhood. I used to run from the Arsenal to the sewage works and yes, it always smells bad, but a good path to run on. Love it! Thanks.

    I used to run that very section of the Thames path every week. The smell at the 💩 works is horrendous. I’ve since moved to the Kent countryside and so thankfully don’t have to smell it any more. I do miss the quiet path though. Well done Ben and Sarah

Good mental advice, keep digging in and remember pain is temporary, elation of crossing the finish line and getting it done lasts forever. You look like your heads in a great place, nice to see. I hit a big wall with my training, was doing a 60 - 70 mile weeks, three years ago, was fly with some great PBs and then life changed, head space all over the place. I had a reset, less miles and controlled speed sessions, I'm enjoying this great sport again and i can see your there too. Thanks

    I run on canal towpaths too. I'm training for Manchester (my first) and run the Macclesfield and Peak Forest canals. They're dead flat so I can get consistent pace, and the surface is like trail running so when I'm extending my distance I'm not battering my legs on a hard surface too.

    Hey Ben, great video as always. Could you take a second to touch on how you use the Garmin watch for this type of training run? By that, I mean what function do you use? I know I can just hit start run but do you use maybe lap feature or do you start, stop and then restart a new event each 5k run you did? Thanks you!

    • @BenParkes
      @BenParkes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Johnny. I have a video here, th-cam.com/video/8DuY5AYu5W4/w-d-xo.html which shows my Garmin set up.. so that may well help you! For the first run I set it up as a workout on Garmin connect, then added it to the watch and followed it along. The watch does all the hard work for me and counts down each 5k section. So it does the laps automatically based on the workout you've put in. Hope that helps!

      @@andydevinewine That’s the advice I’ve been given & do follow but just interested to see if Ben would regard the boots as a good investment given the high cost. Cost benefit analysis from me thus far has ruled them out.

    • @BenParkes
      @BenParkes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes.. of course what Andy says is right. I think they are good because they are so easy to use, so they get used a lot. You just sit there and watch tv, read, daydream etc. other things are a bit of a faff.. so get used less. I got mine off eBay, so while still expensive.. weren’t too bad and currently use them probably 5 times a week. Will never know how much they work, but they certainly do something!
