We decided to try out the world's fastest table tennis serve and analyze the technique behind it. As you can see from the video, it's really difficult to become consistent with the serve and get to the same level as the Japanese table tennis player Asuka Sakai (th-cam.com/video/gfDVXPrLVkg/w-d-xo.html). Nonetheless, it was fun and interesting to try out this serve!
It’s so unbelievable that pongfinity got so big. I subscribed them when were at about 50.000 subscriber. I wish pongfinity the best for the 1 Million subs. 🍀👍💪🏻🇫🇮
David Fhima , now THAT would be interesting to see... Is it easy to just put the racket and return - is the serve a good setup for a third ball attack. Maybe vary the serve with a straight serve to backhand (yes, I know, a bit slower due to the table being shorter at that angle...but the surprise!)
Yeah I think it'd be best just to put the racket out on that serve and block it back. It'd be pretty fast coming back. But I'd bet you could get a fair # of people to make errors in trying to block that. It's pretty quick. Still, they know exactly where it's going as it's corner to corner and the error % on this serve is probably high so who knows. Still interesting to test out.
@@SteveSoper1979 Ya, and you have to disguise the cross spin a bit, so that increases error % too. Half the time you want to reverse that serve into straight slice or spin to vary a bit.
I used to do this serve many years ago when I started table tennis along with tomahawk serve variations. Very effective serve to have especially when in trouble as it really does take the opponent by surprise.
Just want to say 'Keep on going guys'. We love to see just normal guys being friends and enjoying what they do. Now more then 800k subs, rapidly on your way to 1 Mil!
I think it would be really cool if you guys tried table tennis world records, or attempt to replicate more well known players' serves/special play style
Here are some challenges for you champs : Easy : Play every shot with a dive. Normal : Use a needle as your racquet . Hard : Exchange your racquets every time you hit the ball and do a rally of 50 while doing it. Impossible : Use your ball as racquet and your racquet as ball. (Lol) I hope you do any of these 💐💐💐
The reason why it's served with the backhand side is less to do with surprise factor and more to do with generating spin. More top spin means the ball drops down faster, which means you can serve faster for the same distance. With the backhand side, you flick your wrist "down" (faster than "up"), generating more spin. If you tried forehand, the angle you're hitting the ball would be more awkward and there would be less spin. Cheers, great video!
This is great content! I think doing more serves like these in the same format, maybe even putting them in short games or just against someone would be really great! Awesome idea!!!
@Michael Harris I am saved, but this is a pretty terrible way to attempt to evangelize people, because you outright assume they aren't christian, want to be christian, and know about Jesus. Loving people and making connections with them is how to show an example of Jesus, not by copypasting vague comments demanding things of strangers on the internet.
I’ve meet this type of player using this serve. It’s huge serve. The best things about it is, easy to predict the ball and just need a small amount of power just to block the ball. And guess what, the return serve also is huge.
Hey, have you guys checked out table tennis in VR? I tried some eleven table tennis yesterday and it does seem pretty much spot on. Most of the player base is amateurs, but the high level AI settings are pretty good and you can do ranked matches. Id really like to see what it would look like if some pros try that.
You've done banana table tennis, but what about vege-table tennis? See how many different vegetables you can find and rotate between them each shot/point!
The technique is to look at the opponents racket angle and estimate where the shot will hit. This works almost all the time for me since I can react fast to these types of shots/serves. I had someone perform this in a match and he did not expect me to deliver it back and I took the win. People with these serves can sometime if not all the time get very cocky.
Pongfinity, you should play a tournament in which Miiaka will do his fastest serve and others will have to defeat him. If he does the wrong serve then you will get half a point.
After attempting this movement a few times, I've come to the conclusion that the single most impressive thing about this serve is pulling it off without hurting your arm. Still, I intend to work on it, at my very amateur level I imagine it will be devastating. Especially as a variation to my primary backspin serve.
This is basically how I play my forehand in table tennis. It looks near identical to a western forehand tennis stroke (which is where I got it from). I will have to practice this a bit. I've tried it numerous times in the past with minimal success. I never thought to aim shallower in the court to maximize distance. It's such a simple elegant solution to making it consistent
Интересная, необычная по исполнению подача.Было бы весьма кстати показать,в дополнении к этому ролику,как её исполняет сам Asuka Sakai,с разных ракурсов и в замедленном воспроизведении.Лайк авансом!

How much faster would this serve have been with the smaller table-tennis balls from the 1990's ? In the year 2000, the International Table-Tennis Federation decided to increase the diameter of the regulation ball from 38mm to 40mm. Apparently the paddles had improved by then so that ball speed was high so that rallies often lasted only a few shots, and the ball-speed made it hard for spectators to follow a game. The larger balls travel more slowly due to friction with the air.
@@wuzz the force exerted on a rapidly spinning cylinder or sphere moving through air or another fluid in a direction at an angle to the axis of spin. This force is responsible for the swerving of balls when hit or thrown with spin.
I think The reason for serving with backhand is , while the turning of the wrist more energy is produced from there aswell so the ball gets more acceleration power.
As a tennis pro, it's simple to see, you can flick your wrist extremely fast. If I were to have extreme topspin for a groundstroke that is fast but short distance I'd use it. For example, mid-court shot to a mid-court corner. It's the same idea as a "buggy whip."
