Awesome episode. The Isaiah Bradley scene was my favorite part of this episode. RIP Redwing. Zemo is one of my favorite MCU villains. Fan of John Walker aka U.S. Agent since 1993 when I was 9 years old. I'm hoping we get a flashback of Isaiah Bradley vs. The Winter Solider back in 1951.Though they didn’t call him the moniker in the show… perhaps because it’ll come up later, we hope… we meet Isaiah Bradley here. In the incredible comic , he was revealed as one of the 300 Black test subjects who were killed and tortured during the US military’s attempts to recreate the Super Soldier Serum. In the show, he knows Bucky, who just calls him a Super Soldier. But in the comics he was Captain America, wore the suit, held the shield, and even fought Hitler. While in those stories Steve Rogers found out the truth about Isaiah, in the MCU Bucky confirms that he hid the truth of the Super Soldier trials from Steve. Hopefully they’ll build more on that incredible story as it’s one of the best and most powerful Captain America stories, and this scene barely scratched the surface. With setting up Billy and Tommy, and Kate Bishop confirmed for , this was all but inevitable. But that doesn’t make it any less exciting. During this scene we meet Isaiah’s grandson, Eli Bradley, who would become the hero Patriot. In the comics, Eli gets his powers from an addiction to Mutant Growth Hormone. While that likely won’t happen, he can likely get the Serum from the Flag-Smashers or their circle of connections.

It always bothered me that people just instantly hated on John without him literally doing anything wrong... or anything for the matter. Dude has the right intentions just isn’t going about them the right way but he hasn’t done anything bad yet people hate him because he isn’t Steve, he didn’t ask to be made Captain America, the government assigned the position for him.

In having Steve Rogers quit as Captain America and John Walker take over the role, Gruenwald stated that he was hoping to "better define what Captain America the concept is by seeing someone groping, trying to live up to it, trying to grasp all the facets of the concept". Walker soon developed a following of his own, with Gruenwald admitting that his best selling cover of the comic was @/321 which had an image of Captain America shooting a firearm, and that this resulted in many fans wanted him to "Rambo-ize" Cap and make him more Punisher or Wolverine-like. Gruenwald considered this a violation of the character's principles, so decided that he would give the fans what they wanted but that it couldn't be Steve Rogers. Walker's popularity as a character continued to grow, with Gruenwald stating that he had letters from readers saying that they didn't want Steve Rogers to ever return as they saw Walker - regardless of his faults - as more viable, younger, and more interesting because they didn't know what he would do next.John Walker's installation as Captain America indeed provided a major boost to the series's sales, and he remained the main character of for issues 333 through 350, during which his character generally became more heroic. In @/354 he was given another name and costume change, this time as U.S. Agent (created by writer Mark Gruenwald and artist Kieron Dwyer) using a discarded costume of Steve Rogers (the original Captain America): a black outfit with a different alignment of the stars and stripes to differentiate it from Steve Rogers' suit.
Hello ladies. This episode is emotional and awesome. And, there’s an interesting trivia that connect it to AOS. The new character of Isaiah Bradley in the comics wore the mantle of Captain America(hopefully in the future we see in flashbacks it was similar in the MCU). But, the interesting thing is his grandson, who we see here was the 2nd Patriot. Now, the 1st Patriot was another guy who was also Cap, Jeffrey Mace. We met Mace in AOS S4, and he was Patriot. So, just one more tiny connection even it was unintentional, between Agent of Shield and the larger MCU👍
John Walker is definitely one of the more well-known Captain America replacements. Perhaps more commonly known as the Super Patriot or U.S. Agent, Walker was another example of a government-tapped, military veteran who assumed the role when Steve Rogers left it abandoned. Walker's progression in and out of the Captain America role came fairly quickly. After his comic debut in 1986, he was given the shield the very next year and ultimately would shift out of the role another year later to become the U.S. Agent.
I don't know if you know this but in the comics John Walker and Lamar does become the version of captain America and Bucky but they go by US agent and battlestar
Sorry but yeah! The shield is government property and so are Falcon’s wings if you remember Everett Ross in Civil War. Steve didn’t make the shield. Howard Stark did, who was working for the US Army who’s connected to the government. He just gave it to Steve. Honestly it makes me sick when people just come up with excuses or turn down something that is true to keep hating John Walker. It’s pathetic as I really like his character.
Isaiah Bradley's grandson Eli who opened the door for Sam and Bucky ends up becoming a super soldier after he decided to clear his family's good name so he took a knockoff serum it started to affect him the same way it did the 299 other black soldiers that were along with isaiah to recreate the super soldier serum after Steve was frozen , it affected him to a point that he got injured and need a blood transfusion with Isaiah gave him he became a super soldier and he went by the name The Patriot and it ended up being the leader of the Young avengers

It's funny how the writers made John Walker a somewhat empathetic character for this episode, but it doesn't work because he has the most punchable face I've ever seen (especially with the stubble), and also everyone collectively agreed to hate him on sight.
The reason why the government made john walker the "new Captain America" because he was white and they knew white America wouldn't except a black man as Captain America just like they wouldn't have accepted Isaiah Bradley as Captain America which is why Sam didn't want to take up the mantle of Captain America because he knew that . Also the scene when Sam was talking to the kid about him Being just the falcon and not black falcon is something that white America does and if Sam was Asian Latino or a woman they'd call him the Asian, Latino or female Captain America .
Man Nicky just trying to do the outro & Hana keeps interrupting. Nicky looked like she was gonna dropkick Hana 😂 Edit: I swear I must be the only guy that doesn't hate John Walker so far
Cockroach Haha, it's not surprising that John Walker is so unlikeable here considering he was much the same way in the comics. He started out as a rather extremist villain known as "The Super-Patriot," and then the government gave him the mantle of Captain America after Steve Rogers temporarily gave up the mantle because the government was trying to push him around too much. Then of course, Steve had to take back the Captain America title from Walker, because Walker proved to be too violent, aggressive, and dangerously unstable. Walker gradually became somewhat better when he took on his own superhero identity as USAgent, but he still had his well-known flaws.
