Played for the first time at EVO this year. Got in the top 700 out of the 5,000 people. Your stuff helped me improve a lot before then so thank you sir! Edit- never went to local or any tournament before so it was amazing.
my boy zach!!! dude my almost 1900 thanks to you .. save me the time of finding things in training with my busy schedule! and thank you for STILL being one of the few Marisas around 💪
Hi Zach just wanted to say your guides have been an amazing help! Took my Marisa from Silver 2 to Plat 1 so far and I'm still finding ways to improve. Love your content and teaching style 💕
A new supremely informative video. I'll be rewatching this while I grind my way from my current 1300 MR to hopefully 1600+! God bless you and your patient teachings.
Over a thousand games played and I'm still just figuring out how to implement all this. But I'm getting there, and these guides have been a blessing. Thank you
My only, and maybe picky feedback, is, maybe timestamps? Just so when when we return after a whole watch we can quickly get to the section we want to revisit. Also know that can be a lot of work after producing and uploading so not a dig or nothing, fully understand the amount of effort that goes in just to get the content out 👍 thank you again.
@@ZachHenkeyou just need to provide content that is valuable to your audience and a hook that intrigues them enough to click. And then you need to deliver on the promise of the thumbnail and title (the hook) within the first 30s of the video
Totally on point. Strider has a video with a similar concept and although I don't usually watch his content I did watch that one and it was helpful. You do a much better job explaining this though. Only thing is I notice you didn't mention Sparta kick at all. I've found LK Sparta kick very effective against people who walk back and forth fishing for gladius whiff punishes because it often catches them walking forward, which gives me the knockdown, and has more of a suprise factor at times than Superman punch. The pushback on block makes it safe too at the right ranges.
@@ZachHenke yup but it's 5 frames faster. Not my go to for sure but I've found it to be very useful in the neutral in the right moments to apply some surprise factor. The Sim matchup is by far the one I use it the most in
love the videos bro! feel like my Marisa is stuck at diamond 3/4 right now, I know I could hit masters but I struggle against ed,juri could you do a video on how to play her bad matchups!!? Keep up the good work!
Thanks for another great video! I was wondering, is there a way we can watch you play matches? Like another channel where you upload your games or something like that?
Not really. There’s two factors to this. The first being that I really don’t play the game a ton right now when I’m not making content. There are other hobbies and activities that I’m really getting into, so I’m not playing a bunch of SF. The other thing is that I’m a much better teacher than player, and I get very salty (like DSP levels of salt), so doing stuff with live commentary while I’m playing isn’t something I’m super interested in. I do have one video on my channel where I look at my own gameplay. And my first livestream ever was me analyzing matches of my own, but I screwed up and didn’t have audio for the first 45 minutes. Here is the video: th-cam.com/video/5P4zhOglnNg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lH4F8JRzNIakePin
@@ZachHenke Fair enough! I'll watch that video then, I like to see the theory put to practice. I also struggle with getting salty, even if I'm getting better at dealing with it, so I understand completely. See you on the next video!
What about dirty little akumas who walk back so fast then look for the side swap? Just walk forward and block then see what they start pushing? I dont really struggle with akuma but the walking back people do my head in. I think its mainly cos I'm not patient enough. 19:33 need to play slow.....
Yeah. Most people that aren’t very good players aren’t going to play patiently properly. They’ll either give up too much space by playing passively, or they’ll abandon it entirely.
@@ZachHenke you saying I'm not a great player Mr Z?! I'm diamond 5 now. (Although technically to diamond 4 last night cos I just kept playing when way too tired....) ill be a master mofo soon
watched some guides after hitting gold, realized i should be gladiusing way more... and then my gold opponents immediately started hitting me with lows 😢 ty

Marisa players all over the globe own you one Zach, big thanks for another banger guide!
Thank you!

1000 games into my SFV journey I had just hit gold, and I hadn’t learned how to use half of the system mechanics. Stuff takes a long time.
I've not watched it yet, but i'm very sure that this video will help me, Thanks Zach
I appreciate your confidence.
thanks for the video! just hit master so id like to level up my gameplay more, and this video made me realize I'm still missing things in my gameplan.
Thanks as always Zach, definitely been struggling with neutral in MR
Marisa is hard to play in neutral at higher levels. She doesn’t have a ton of the tools that other characters take for granted.
Returning after not properly playing since season 1. Thank you for the videos!
Of course! Thanks for checking it out!

This is fantastic. Gonna have to watch it a second time and take notes. As always, you’re the 🐐
Thank you!
Oh my God, we're back again! Brothers, sisters, everybody sing.
Thank you for another super helpful video!
Thanks for tuning in!
Nice work with the thumbnails and titles dude 👌 getting at least 1k views per vid now. Bossing it.
Yeah. I just wish that I could branch out a little bit. Eventually I’m going to run into the end of the English speaking Marisa players.

I think it’s useful at times and especially in certain matchups. But the minus frames and weakness to DI make me reluctant to use it too much.

Definitely very good against Dhalsim.
Crazy good Marisa content!
15:08 quite like a cheeky DR 》 charged HP to mess with them here too when they are trying to catch the dr with a cheeky poke
This is an awesome breakdown man
Thank you.
5:32 yeah. This is it. This is where I struggle when trying to play patiently and not rush them down.

Of course. There are layers to everything in fighting games. The trick is knowing the counter play.
How can you beat Ryu low kick with marisa?
Everything here except stand HK should be just as effective. The hitbox on his crouch MK is really good, so stand HK tends to not go over it.
Gladius can anti air right
Yes. L Gladius is probably our most consistent anti air at a lot of ranges.
