But there’s a reason there isn’t because these massive billion dollar sporting organizations will do everything in their power for Netflix not to publish something like this. They’ll allow drive to survive cause now they got 3 Grand Prix’s just in America alone

you have to understand the history of this derby to make sense of it...Stuttgart is the capital of the state Baden-Württemberg. Which is made up of two former Kingdoms (the kingdom of Baden with Karlsruhe the former capital and the kingdom of Württemberg, with Stuttgart the capital), who have been at war with each other for most of history and only with the emergence of a united Germany in the mid 19th century they had to learn to live with each other and after the second world war being thrown together into one state. Today the only way to still display that age old rivalry is through this derby! That's why this derby is rather rough on the edges!

That's how it is, regardless of the league. They hate each other to the core. I've been in the stadium for this game and also in the "opponents" stadium. My husband is a fan of the opponent, his brother is one of the "Ultras". My family is from Stuttgart, so we went to see the Derby. We were not in the area he's filming, but my brother in law was. We had tickets on the right side. But not where the Stuttgart-Ultras are. Had to be dressed neutral and my husband got verbally attacked and kicked in the ancle just because he was talking to me and you can hear he's from Karlsruhe (dialect)

Anytime you hear the word "derby", it means rival battle. its like a club gang. cause anything happens on the pitch it they'll remember as if it happened yesterday even if its 60 years ago. anything goes; infighting, scandals, amongst the team or executives, or regional politics your rivals will make into a songs and chants and shout them with HUGE enthusiasm.

    • @libertineuk
      @libertineuk หลายเดือนก่อน

It doesn't mean a rival game. A derby game is 2 teams from the same city. Example Liverpool vs Everton, Arsenal vs Chelsea, Real Madrid vs Athletico Madrid....

Fun fact: mounted police was brought back in Germany mainl because of the football world cup in 2006. Lots of stadiums are located in or near parks, where it's easier to mover around quickly on horseback than by car or motorcycle.
Also, mounted police has a better overview and people will keep their distance from a big animal with iron shoed hooves and big teeth.

  • @HG_Budde

To clarify: Filming and photographing in Germany is a touchy subject, there are even a whole set of laws against it - it's commonly known as "The right to the own picture".
As a common rule, if there are more than 5 people in the shot you're fine, but you should not film or photograph single people or even police officers without permission.
Especially sports games, many fans that couldn't get off of work, will get a doctors certification for sick leave and then go to the game. Of course they don't want their bosses to see them on the internet, being at a sports event instead of doing everything to get well again.
In general people in Germany are very keen on privacy, therefore they WILL call you out and tell you off quite firmly, if you hold a camera on them without consent or even against their will.

13:48 yeh man each club has a group of hardcore fans, and in that hard core are (a minority) of ...well Hooligans, they are not nice people , their mindset is war and the enemy is anyone who crosses them. Its like Compton mentallity "you aint from round here bruh!"
I once sat in the away end watching a local team play West Ham (Bristol Rovers) I'm actually a Liverpool fan (family ties) but when it comes to Bristol I like Rovers (not City), but I would not call myself a Rovers fan. However that game was the most nervous 90mins of my life.
Rovers are shit so any West Ham fan that travels to see West Ham play Rovers......is a HARDCORE fan. West Ham have one of the most feared "Firms"/Ultras in English football, and there I was sat in the middle of all of them.....and some of them suspected I was not West Ham. For 90 mins I was getting dirty looks, people tapping the guy next to them and then pointing at me while they talked about me.
I made sure I did not cheer any Rovers stuff, and just clapped bits where both teams were good (good shot and good save type stuff)
Walking out of that ground was the only time I was genuinely worried at a match but it was all good and nothing happened
(incidentally for those who know You Tube fan channels, Nicky from West Ham YT channels was on the same row as me...hahaha he was one of the people giving me strange looks hahahahahah)

I live in Bristol , we have 2 teams in Bristol, they both suck (2nd and 3rd tier of English football)
Last time they played they had to escort one set of fans down the biggest road in Bristol, to stop any rival fan clashes......and despite all this over £1 million worth of damage was caused to the surrounding area
These are 2 small to medium size teams, they are rivals due to proximity, but teams like Liverpool and Manchester United are Derby rivals because of proximity, but also Manchester and Liverpool hate each other (which goes back to trade disputes over 200 years ago BEFORE the football teams) and on top of all that...they are the 2 most successful English teams, both in the English league and in the European competitions. Arsenal and Tottenham as well (although less success between them, but both clubs are big enough it adds another layer)
In most cities there is an underlying Catholic Protestant stream as well. Most people are not buying into this...but the remnants of it are still there, its much more prevalent in Glasgow with Rangers and Celtic, but even then its becoming less and less about that.
Football teams aint just teams, its heritage, history, I mean essentially football is intertwined with so much tension between different groups, it gets cray ntense

I am German and have never been a big soccer fan. Of course I also played soccer, but I was never particularly good at it. What I was good at was catching the ball, which is why I was always a goalkeeper back then. Because I was good at catching balls and running fast, I was in the Lübeck Cougars (GFL II) WR. ;) I started playing American Football with the Lübeck Cougars when I was 17 and I love the sport. What's going on in soccer among rival fans is like a civil war here in Germany and it's just sick. I was at a game in Rostock once (2008). Hansa Rostock versus St. Pauli. The two hate each other and I was for Hamburg, but stood in the block of the Rostock hooligans. State of War, Diggah! I survived by keeping my mouth shut. St. Pauli (district of Hamburg) won. ;)

You want to know how dangerous it is? After one derby of my club I was waiting for my dad to pick me up (I was maybe 17 years old) and suddenly I was laying on the ground and two cops were asking me if I was okay. Ultras from both teams got into it and suddenly I was knocked out (nothing serious) but still after that I normally left the stadium a few minutes before the game finished.

@12:00 just to be clear: in most european countries you CAN'T have an open container in public. Nevertheless it's not enforced at all. Unless you are heading to your car or whatever. I grew up in Netherlands - I have used my bicycle a zillion times when I was way too drunk. Actually this is considered a DUI in Netherlads. But its not enforced.

Holding away fans in a stadium is normal even here in the U.S. though it depends per game. Even though we almost had a fight in Miami last season, they still let us go after the game. MLS does say though it has a league requirement of holding away fans in the stadium at least 30 minutes starting in the 80th minute.

Honestly :D If you are black and from the US you will have a blast in Germany because you are a rare diamond. Literally everybody will want to talk to you. Everybody grew up on movies and music and conflicts and struggles from african american culture and you never get to speak to the actual people. Girls and guys will love you. Saw it when a friend of mine came over who was in the military. Jesse Owens, Michael Jordan, Kobe, Muhammed Ali all the other great atheletes and a shitload of musicians (From Jazz/Blues to Jimym Hendrix to Rap music) are basically heros here. Everybody knows them :D

Go to a FC Barcelona game, average attendance for a regular league game this season is 85,000 people and they have capacity for 100,000. The stadium will be renovated in a year or two and won’t be officially complete until around 2025, so Barcelona will have to use their backup stadium that only seats 60,000 people for a couple years.

I would like to explain you one more thing. In Europe it is, like in the USA, forbidden to drink in the streets. Police policy here however is a lot different. We try to deescalate. When you have 30.000 people having a beer in a nice atmosphere and there are 2 policeman trying to arrest somebody all hell breaks loose. Nobody wants that. After the game they will all go home to their wives , parents or wherever. Got it?

Dudes before the 2000's shitloads of football gang wars happened people have died, been crippled, stabbed and mental fucked up from head trauma. In unconfirmed stories girlfriends have been raped and homes set on fire, by the much crazier fans to other fans. Some ultras lived only to fight for the extreme fans, but all those guys are not welcome.

There's one big difference that'd be hard to catch up on. Clubs in Europe are old, some ~100 years, and therefore have a long history of rivalries, feuds and alliances with other cities' clubs (which often exist for centuries longer than the clubs and just extended to sports). Loyalty to a specific club is hereditary and passed on from multiple generations by now.
