- The bird is a predatory gull that eats one duckling after another because it is hungry and must be fed. Ducks attack the seagulls on the duck pond. The seagull can not defend itself from a duck onslaught as formidable as this. The mother ducks win, and the seagull loses the battle, and it doesn't eat any more of their ducklings. Ducks are aquatic birds that live on the water and can live in freshwater and seawater; ducks don't have the predatory instinct to hunt, but they will eat small marine animals, plants, and insects. A female duck is known as a pen, and a male duck is understood as a drake; the duckling is a baby duck without flight feathers. Gulls, or seagulls, are predatory seabirds and opportunistic meat-eating predators that hunt and eat various baby birds throughout the breeding seasons. A gull is a very successful hunter of small baby ducks because they are easy to catch, and they are subsequently a big part of a gull's seasonal diet. The bird at the end is a heron and has also been captured. It eats a substantial number of young ducks because it is the duck breeding season, and they are easy to hunt. Many young flightless ducks are swimming around looking for food to eat, and they are easy to catch and eat because they can't fly away, which is why a predatory bird will hunt and find them. Flightless young ducks are prey for various predators and predatory birds.

One of the reasons why I've always hated seagulls.
They aren't just selfish but they swallow ducklings alive. Yet they try and attack people for their food and are bullies to everyone.
I just heard they're a protected species which I don't get since they're extremely common pests. Foxes aren't a protected species yet even though they can be pesky, they ain't as bad as seagulls.. I just don't get it.

You think this is bad, look up a woodpecker eating a nest full of baby robins.
Basically, the woodpecker drilled a whole through a bird house, and kepted stealing the chicks one at a time over the course of the day. What woodpeckers do is peck right through the chicks skull to eat the brains, the best source of protein from the kill, then discard the rest of the corpse.
Then of course other predators nearby would eat the rest.

This is the first video I have seen where ducks are actually as a group ganging up on a predator they could not successfully tackle individually. Quite interesting to watch. I wonder how often this happens. Obviously the gull was not happy about it, but he survived and was able to fly off. I wonder how soon he came back for another course of duckling.

Ducks are bottom feeders who breed like crazy. When there are no predators like where I live in Florida they breed nonstop, sometimes having 10+ babies at a time. The city randomly collects them and brings them to the everglades where natural predators will finish the job.

That "serial murderer" was probably just a parent gull collecting food for his/her own chicks.
Like a lot of other birds that directly feed their chicks for a period of time after hatching, seagulls catch food, swallow it, then return to their chicks and regurgitate it for the chicks to eat.
Chances are excellent your "murderer" was feeding her own family and the ducklings were a good sources of food for her to do so.
