  • I was really nervous to get started today however after finishing I looked back and realized pressuring canning ground beef wasn't near as scary as I thought it would be. On this channel I would love to grow a community of people who will encourage one another in their canning/ food preservation journey. Sometimes I find getting started is the hardest part because of all of the unknowns. Today we get to learn how to pressure can 10 Ibs of ground beef together.

@reneeweitz878 it’s not a must however it helps you catch any rings that may have rust on them or be bent/dented and increase the risk of your jars not sealing properly. 😊 thank you for watching!

The latestBall Blue book tells us to fill, de-bubble, clean rims, add lids and rings, one jar at a time, put each jar into the canner to keep it warm while you prep the next jar. Repeat, until your product is gone or your canner is full.

You might try a rubber or silicon band to help remove your rings.

If you do homemade chicken stock flip the jar upside down in the fridge the liquid will stay at the top and the fat will form at the bottom so you have to worry about any fat falling back into the broth.

You are a superwoman! Working and learning at the same time! That’s great! I am learning too and although the steps can be overwhelming i have found just doing it and getting started was the hardest part! Below is a link to my play list for all the canning projects I have practiced and “Homesteading Family” is another great TH-cam channel to use as a reference for learning! Keep up the learning and thank you for joining me!

We always put the lids and rims in a small pot with water then bring to a summer and cut off heat. Then use the magnet lid lifter to remove and then put on jar's. They need to be sterilized as well.

@@AutumnLeighatHomeI saw the soap comment and it made me laugh. I am paranoid about not rinsing jars enough. My favorite way to clean new jars is to load them in the dishwasher and do a quick cycle. I trust the dishwasher to rinse better than I do.
