My first ever band (Bastion) had the pleasure of supporting these guys in Scotland in the late 70's early 80's. Great Guys and a great Band, they rocked and never got the breaks that they deserved. I still have my autographed plain white album they released of which they gave all of us a free copy after the gig. Happy memories!
Dave McFurry great memories man you cherish them and pass on to your grandchildren that this is what real music should sound like! Fantastic underrated band beautiful music 🙏🏻🎸💞🙏🏻🤘🎸🙏🏻💞
Funny, Metallica said they hated the glam bands because they'd say 'oh baby' in songs, Diamond Head is a perfect example of an 'oh baby' band. Still though, this is one of my favorite Diamond Head tracks
DefLeppard1221 I think there was good glam bands tho like Cinderella skid row Guns N' Roses and even Hard rock bands like Van Halen and Diamond head you just have to find them
@@SniffHeinkel I feel like Glam can mean two things the sound and also the look when you see bands like Motley Crue and Skid Row sebastian bach era they were glam far as the style and trend but their sound was way more heavy than what was considered a glam band I think GNR in their early days far as their look can be considered Glam before they changed their image I dont think Glam was ever a bad genre I feel like as it got popular a lot of ppl and bands came in and were jut corny and one hit wonder type bands however what I like to remember Glam for is albums like Appetite for destruction, and Shout at the devil prob the best 2 Glam metal albums that were ever made
Exactly. Same with Gary Holt of Exodus loving UFO. UFO is a big influence on metal scene of the 80s yet compared to thrash bands they're a little bit "oh baby". There are lots of ironic examples of that. Anthrax's Scott Ian is the one among thrashers to bash the glam scene most, but he's also huge Kiss fan. Most of thrash guitarists cite Van Halen as a big influence. A thrash band from Bay Area, Heathen covered a Sweet song in their debut. So, in conclusion, glam rock and glam metal is inseperable from the metal music scene in general. Even thrash pioneers can't deny that. Let's not forget Led Zeppelin started it all, the biggest "oh baby" band ever. Edit: I forgot Motörhead :D they also have loads of "oh baby"s in their lyrics as well.
This was the first Diamond head song I heard. It will probably remain my favourite . I don'T care if it was "commercial", who gives a damn? I love how the guitar is distant-mic'ed, it sounds s good. And Brian Tatler does the Jimmy Page move pretty good! (2: 24)
Killer track -- mega hook. Tatler's solo is reminiscent of Brian May's playing on this number. Harris manages to merge Hughes and Coverdale's vocal stylings from Deep Purple MK III and IV LPs into one coherent synergistic style all of his own. This is classic English Hard Rock in all of its glory.
Diamond Head were the soundtrack to my teenage years, loved Sean's vocals on this.....I went on to be an illustrator and was hugely influenced by Rodney Matthews who did some amazing artwork for the band, I still have all my original vinyl's from way back then....Have just come back to listening to music after many years of boring grown up stuff....loved listening to this again!!!
fucking awesome track from one of the best new wave of british heavy metal bands diamond head. sean harris fucking awesome singer he was for diamond head they should of stuck with him the only good diamond head singer. so raw and fucking magic what a song. #nwobhmforever
i was lucky to see these guys twice. i still have the autographed program ( well it was important at the time! ) love this song and the whole album didnt contain a single bad track. they never got better than this.
The first rock band U ever saw live, supported by Silverwing at the Free Trade Hall, Manchester. I bought the White album and got it signed. Saw them another 4 times and met them again twice. Sean Harris was a revelation and rightly compared to Robert Plant for vocal ability.
Four O'clock in the morning now Well I can't sleep for love Been waiting for you to call To say you love me enough It clouds my head that unhappy night Please forgive every word I see it all much clearer now It all seems so absurd But my plane leaves at 10a.m. We both know I must go To return I must be told That you know what I know Call me, baby Call me Call me, baby Call me To tell the truth I don't want to go So say you want me to stay You are more than all to me This is no game that I play But my plane leaves at 10a.m. We both know I must go To return I must be told That you know what I know Call me, baby Call me Call me, baby Call me Call me, baby Call me Call me, baby Call me But my plane leaves at 10a.m. We both know I must go To return I must be told That you know what I know Say you love me, say you do Let me tell you Tell me that you want me to stay Baby, baby, baby
this song means a lot to me.i've been in a long distance realationship for 8 years and i wouldnt trade my honey for anything in the world.well anyways, crossing the borders,we've had problems, and it's stressful anyways sometimes,i remember besides being detained, the power even went out before and we're just both waiting for eachother to call. this song is personal to me. no to mention it's a pretty grat fuckin song. i need me some more diamond head in my life!haha!
Think I saw Sean harris in the Duke William pub in Stourbridge last night. Could be wrong though. Favourite DH track is this one. All tracks from the four cuts EP were mega.
This isn't my favorite DH song but I believe the story. I've been working at a pretty big nightclub (but not the biggest at all) for 4 years and you wouldn't believe the people I've seen.
I've got the 7" single of this knocking about somewhere. I think it was an EP with 3 songs on it. I remember when they first appeared on the scene and I think it was Sounds paper who reviewed their first album and said that each song on it had more guitar riffs than the first four Led Zeppelin albums!
Awesome voice, these guys must' have learned from Earth and co. Please don't think I'm picking on these guys, but Diamond Head were at another level at their time.
from dance to metal i Ive noticed that..some people listen to metal in their teens as a causality and then when they grow up a lil bit they completely fed up of it and totally forget it and they don't listen even once a year i don't think that metal is very silly to be for teens and children.
Just proving that these guys could write a killer melodic pop metal tune despite their sensational ability of writing majestic, gloomy, ploddy epics and upbeat headbanging anthems.
All went down hill after this Canterbury was a big disappointment changing the line up and sound was a big mistake Sean Harris mum and dad ran the band massive mistake thank God Lars kept there name going ⚡
oh man it hasnt really gotten better sometimes youll see bon jovi and shit and the only good songs they play they play em like daily like every time i watch it i see megadeth sweating bullets and this scorpions song
the song kick ass, the band kick ass, the singer voice kick ass, but I have a problem with the singer performance, this remind me of the first original singer of AC/DC Dave Evans, the band was amazing but the singer was trying to look too sexy, they got rid of him and hired Bon Scott. they became one of the best rock band and the rest is history. Diamond Head should have done the same. but this is just my opinion, what do you think guys? thumbs up if you agree with me.
I agree with you at the Evans part, but not with Harris (diamond's singer).his unique voice made this band an icon. He was very influenced by The Sweet, Queen and Led Zeppelin, so there you go why he is wearing like that.. And still he was a grand influence for such bands like metallica and other heavy and thrash bands. Or what do u think have happend to queen if Brian May fired Freddy Mercury by acting like himself xD? just my opinion.
Sean Harris is one of the most underrated unique singers of his time
Thank you very much.
For real. His voice is beautiful

First got into metal during this era. First Priest then Maiden, shame that Diamond Head never got the same exposure in the US or the UK.

I've been noticing that VH1 Classic's Metal Mania plays more stuff like Bon Jovi, Poison and Whitesnake and not the really obscure stuff like this
