    Proceed with caution if you've got spacers. They are used to fill the gap between 8mm bearings and 6mm diameter axels. You can pop the opposite side bearing out by pushing on the spacer. I foolishly tried method #1 here to pry bearing out with allen key and ruined the spacer. If you see a solid metal tube spanning the full depth of the hub there is a spacer in there.

      I found out the hard way, too. It seems the the older model blades used the spacers and the new ones don't, but I've only used Rollerblade brand for the past 25 years.

    Thank you! All the other videos either had specific tools or told me to just forcibly push it, but your method works the best!

    this doesn't deal with the problem of removing the spacer first? it seems to assume there is no spacer? Have I misunderstood? any help appreciated

    I've been looking for this for the past few days. It's my first time and the other videos were not helpful at all; no details were mentioned and the camera wasn't close enough to see. Thank you!

    Hey THANK you for this, I was so mad when my Seba Luminous wheels showed up this week with no bearings, but I hadn't realised I could remove the existing ones in my twister edge wheels! Trying out a rockered setup after watching some of your other videos, already feels great :D

    I just realised that i had been pushing the bearing from inside out - thus damaging the belt of the bearing ...
    I.e. i pushed with the tool from inside ... kids never do that at home. Glad i did that realization on my first skates that i am replacing at the moment :)
    Otherwise i would be crying...

    Method 1, NO - damaging to bearing, wheelcrack chance and scratched spacer!
    Method 2; yess BUT rather wiggle the bearing out carefully instead of this just one-wiggle way...

    Super great tutorial! I like your longer videos as well but I know that especially people who are new to your channel (you're hitting 1,500 subs very soon! :DD) appreciate short tutorial videos like this. So big thumbs up! I needed to see this myself also, I've done this a few times but I'm always worried I'll use to much force and damage the bearings lol.. :)

      but if you're still wondering what hardness i use for my wheels, I usually use 84A and 85A :)
      I'm thinking on getting harder wheels, like 88A :)

      Derek Simmons The Atom One? these wheels are more for speed skating; they have a differét profile compared to freeride wheels :o but i'd like to test them!
      I usually use Gyro F2R & Seba wheels :)
      Gyro wheels are probably my favorite so far :D

  • @shawnsponds
    @shawnsponds 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    this is a very poor technique. The force you are applying to the bearing by "prying" it out can warp the bearing. Use a proper size tool to push the bearing spacer out taking the bearing with it, then push the opposite bearing through with your thumb, much faster and easier than this prying technique which can damage the bearing
