- Doodhi chi dal or lauki ki dal is one underrated recipe that makes lauki delicious😍
Apparently my mom made this so we eat doodhi/lauki, and she did manage to trick us into enjoying it🥰😍 she does this a lot more than I’d like to admit😅
I’m not a big fan of lauki only because I feel it lacks flavor. But then it can easily be made edible with such variations. Do try it out if you haven’t already🤩
Ingredients I used:
- 2 cups of lauki/ bottle gourd
- 1/2 cup masoor dal
- 1 large tomato, roughly chopped
- 1 medium onion, roughly chopped
- 4 green chillies, slit (or as preferred)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- few curry leaves
- 6 thick cloves of garlic, mashed
- salt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder (or as preferred)
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- few coriander leaves, finely chopped

Yes i’v been cooking it with chana dall for many donkeys years even wth Chicken dall an Louke all combined to gather! It’s absolutely delicious! Have it wth rote naan or white pulav rice !

Never cook daal in cooker ..try to make it without whistles as much as possible for split daal ( as they can cook easily on low flame )..so that nutrition maintains in your food

We in Odisha have a very famous dish called dalma...it's all the veggies with toor dal or you can use any other dal as per your preference...and it's not sambhar just FYI..do check that out and try🙂

If you are telling a recipe, please tell it properly. You did not even tell how many whistles should one wait for the dal to cook
