Whenever I need hope, I watch this video.
Not at all surprised to hear what the brothers had to say. My little brother was diagnosed with cancer when he was 7 and I was 12. I was legit terrified at what would happen to him even at that age. I was so scared he was going to die especially seeing all the horrible shit he went through. I also couldn't sleep and couldn't concentrate on anything, I was always worried I was going to get pulled out of class to be told he died, worried I would be pulled out of practice and told he died, worried every single waking second that the other shoe was about to drop. Kids are not stupid, they know a serious situation when they see it. My parents tried to shelter me from it but they couldn't, I knew how serious it was and no matter what they said it did not comfort me.
You are so lucky Conley

Dear Connolly, thank you for making a HOCKEY! wish because of you my love of HOCKEY! gets stronger and stronger. I collect HOCKEY! make-a-wish videos. I currently have 151 in my collection including this one. I hope you are well and you still play HOCKEY! the best sport on the planet. :)
As someone with hydrocephalus and having had six brain surgeries prior to two years old, I am glad Make A Wish is helping kids with this condition but it is misleading to think that this is a life-threatening condition. It is if it is ignored but modern medicine in the west pretty much makes this impossible. And the surgery is not anywhere near as life-threatening as the mom implies (even if unintentionally). Sure, technically, any brain surgery could be fatal but it almost never happens with shunt surgeries. What is more likely, even though still rare, is a stroke leading to permanent disabilities. But unlike many of the heart conditions or cystic fibrosis, or cancers often featured in Make a Wish stories, hydrocephalus, though chronic, is not really life threatening. That said, I think any boy (or girl) dealing with major medical issues early in life, no matter if life threatening, deserves recognition similar to a Make a Wish event.
Agreed. In high school, I had a classmate who had hydrocephalus and spina bifida and he was grated a Make-A-Wish, which he chose to go to Disneyland. To most other kids, it's "just" a trip to Disneyland, but for him, it was a lifechanging event because he had never had a chance to go on vacation as his family spent so much on his medical equipment and physical therapy (which even here in Canada isn't covered by national care). He's still doing well to this day last I heard, even though I've lost touch with him since graduation.
I'm not crying...you're crying
I think this kid is really lucky good for him
