This video has me in tears. I have never commented on TH-cam before, but I am a wreck over this one. My wife and I are expecting our first, a little girl in 9 days and she has been confirmed for T21 (Down Syndrome). We have known for months and never considered terminating, but I was devastated that she might not be able to play hockey. Then I found out there was a Special Needs Hockey League and I saw this video on their homepage. This little girl is so awesome and I can only hope my little girl is as upbeat as she is about life. I am still crying as I type this as my emotions finally boiled over on this one. Excellent work Ovie (from a diehard Flyers fan), and keep going Ann!!

ovi is a class guy. scratch that . All the players in the nhl have class , taking their times out of their schedule to make a impact on the lives of people who are less fortunate. that is why i love hockey players they are not selfish and give a lot too the community which they play in .

I just ran across this video after watching Ovie’s Molson 100 greatest players video. I rarely get choked up, but this did it. Who doesn’t like this guy? His unbridled enthusiasm for the game, his genuine soft touch with this young fan, and his joy in winning the Cup make him my favorite Cap since Dale Hunter.
I'm a huge Rangers fan and recognize the Caps as a big rival, but this video just helps cement how classy the Capitals are and in particular: Ovechkin. Without a doubt one of my favourite players in the league.

I think he's by far one of my top 3 favorite players. I'm not really a capitals fan, more of a blackhawk fan till the day I die but Ovechkin has a ridiculous amount of skill, I love the energy and excitement he brings to the ice, he obviously loves hockey and is passionate about it (his interesting goal celebrations), the fact that he's so happy about every goal he scores like it's his first NHL goal, and he's a good guy on and off the ice. It's good to know that he has young kids looking up to him and that he's he's a good role model too. Too bad hockey is really the only sport where the athletes are like that, I think that in the NFL specifically and other professional leagues the players let the money and fame get to their head. These NHL players couldn't care less about the money, they just love playing the game.
orhan omarov Trust me, not all Americans or Canadians despise Russian players. Any smart fan knows that Russians are some of the most talented in all of sports history, especially hockey. I'm Canadian and a gigantic hockey fan, and I truly believe in terms of true, flat out skill, Malkin is the best player I've ever seen. Ovechkin isn't too far behind either.
Ovechkin is a really class person for doing this for Ann who is autistic. I too am autistic and suffer from a rare disorder called "Asbergers Syndrome." I can't give you a dictionary definition, but it means I'm incredibly bright and unusually talented, but have thoughts, emotions, moods, and feelings I can't control and can't tolerate. I was born autistic and with mental illness, but I believe in never giving in. There's too much to lose. I've been through it all suicide attempts and the like back in the distant past, but then when I hit rock bottom I pulled myself up and brushed myself off and now I just take things day by day. I believe in love. That emotion and that belief strengthen a person while hate weakens and destroys people. Hockey is the game I love. Hockey players and anyone else who is non apathetic are who I love. Apathy and hate have no place and 182 people who disliked this have no place.
I DARE someone to tell me that OVI is not a CLASS ACT in granting this little darling's wish and going all out to make her have an unforgettable night going to the game and going to eat afterwards was the icing on the cake. OVI you are truly a MAN among men when it comes to not just being one of the greatest players ever in hockey but a CLASS ACT that has a heart as big as all outdoors and something that 95% of not just hockey players but pro athletic players of all major sports tend to disassociate themselves and become above their truest fans especially the children and YOU SIR in my book absolutely one of the greatest HUMAN BEINGS of professional sports and THE GREATEST EVER LEGENDARY future hall of Fame'r and we are SO PROUD that you were instrumental and determined to bring the cup to D.C. and with all your skill and ability made YOUR DREAM come true all the while being a humble TEAM player and not a self centered but totally focused professional athlete that played for his Team, his fans and his community. My all time favorite skater (I'm a goalie so I obviously like the tendys the most) but Ovechkin is my favorite. An arm's legnth of class acts like this, not only does he score, but he is a classy, talented player. Many think he's overrated or I might just like him because he is good...but it's not that. The Great 8 is a likable player.
Bruins fan here chiming in that Ovechkin deserves a cup... one of the greatest talents we've ever witnessed in the NHL plus a great all around dude, and he has one of the greatest highlight videos of all time. How can you not root for the guy.
