  • As part of his journey to Catholicism, Jeff experienced what I would describe as a eucharistic miracle. Jeff also happens to be my brother-in-law! I cannot wait for you to hear his story.

    And God revealed the truth to you in the Holy Eucharist, in the real presence of Jesus, this is wonderful indeed, go forth Jeff and spread this good news to all who are in need of hearing it.
    There is no mention anywhere in the old and new Testament that the words of Jesus in John 6:53-60 were just symbolic. I wish all my non Catholic Brothers and Sisters would understand it the way Jesus said it and not misinterprete his words.
    John 6:53 In the words of Jesus " Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him." John 6:60 His disciples murmured "This saying is hard, who can accept it"? And many of them no longer accompanied him. Then Jesus said to the Twelve "Do you also want to leave?"

    Thank you for sharing your testimony. I believe you when you say it was very clear in that moment. If you intensely and purposefully pray to God to bring the Holy Spirit you will receive it. I was baptized Catholic as a baby (large Irish Italian family east coast) but never fulfilled the sacraments and grew up agnostic. Struggled most of my life. In 2020 made the decision to open my heart and surrender. Immediately upon doing so started experiencing a spiritual battle - boy the devil will try all tactics to win you back. However, I continued to attend a local Protestant church. Earlier this year I made a really big mistake and it destroyed me inside. After a week or so I had this strong instinct or guess a calling to go to my local Catholic chapel. I went every day during lent. I was in so much pain emotionally/mentally and I already thought I’d gone through enough obstacles. I was on my knees crying and praying for God to help me every day. And I prayed the rosary every day with my Nana’s rosary beads. I didn’t even know the rosary but learned on my own. One day I was sitting in the chapel had my eyes closed and all I saw was this very bright yellow light. At first I was startled and tried to justify it was just my imagination but after much research it was an archangel Jophiel. It was so clear. I will never forget that moment until the day I die. I know the Lord has been protecting and guiding me. 🙏 👼

      You'd probably like this if you haven't seen it yet.
      It actually happened in North Truro on Cape Cod Massachusetts.(I noticed you said you were from the East Coast)
      I only know where it happened because after seeing this video I looked up and watched many more of his videos that are anywhere from 1 - 1-1/2 hours long just because I wanted to get more details about his story.
      In any of his videos I watched he never says exactly where it happened; he only mentions occasionally that it was on Cape Cod but his description of the area sounded like the Outer Cape along the National Seashore which happens to be where I live and it did happen about 30 minutes from my home.
      I eventually ended up contacting him through one of his videos and through email and when he got back to me he told me exactly where the location was.
      This past summer he came back to the Cape for the first time since this happened in the 1980s and we had 500 to 600 people show up at one of the Catholic churches here on the Cape. He said it was the largest crowd that he has ever spoken in front of at a Church and he has speaking engagements about 50 times every year and all over the world.

      Hi Jesse, Catholics recognize that Jesus Christ is the source of the grace administered in the Sacraments. In a sense, Protestants believe in Sacraments too…they believe that repentance and “accepting Christ into your heart” brings salvation. I’m not saying you have to agree with what Catholics believe, but maybe that can help you understand our perspective a bit more.

    • @FiledUnderFaith
      @FiledUnderFaith  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Jesse Bryant I’ve gotten several dozen comments in the last two days. I am typically not able to keep up with them all, and I’m not obligated to answer each one. But to answer your question, I’d say the simplest way to describe the Gospel is, “The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

    • @FiledUnderFaith
      @FiledUnderFaith  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It is not the singularly protestant view of salvation to say that we are saved by God's grace. That's just the Christian faith and what Catholics have always believed. If you'd like to understand what Catholics believe about faith and works, you really don't need me to explain it to you. If you'd like to know what Catholics believe, you can just read the catechism. Here is Section 2, Grace and Justification (pages 482-490): www.usccb.org/sites/default/files/flipbooks/catechism/482/
      If your interest is more-so in trying to convince me that Catholicism is false, I'd suggest praying for me instead. God bless.

    Protestants are trying to keep their tens of thousands of individual denominations alive so it’s absolutely necessary for them to focus on fellowship in and around their services. I’m sure many Protestants are meeting socially for the right reasons too, although, at the same time, I do believe this is the historical over arching reason why they must make it a point to erect so many social gatherings. However, regardless of the reason, it’s good to gather with fellow Christians and nurture our community! I believe Catholics would greatly benefit from engaging in more evangelical spirit in this fashion, and also in regards to conveying our faith effectively to others. That is something we, as Catholics, can learn from the them. Luckily I have found a Catholic community (of all places in NYC) that is very alive and thriving. I pray all of you can either find one too or start one yourselves : ).

      I would look up an article in The National Catholic Register: We Need to Stop Saying That There Are 33,000 Protestant Denominations. You'll be surprised how these ridiculous numbers are really compiled. One of the ways is to add Catholic and Orthodox rites actually.
      That aside, we are not looking to keep denominations alive. We have fellowships to keep Jesus alive in us, and to encourage and exhort one another in the word. A big onus in most protestant circles is love among the brethren. Based on love God first, as the greatest command, and the second one like unto the first, to love our neighbours as we love ourselves. How will we be known? If we love one another.

    Great testimony and interview. Thanks for sharing. One thing for our Protestant brothers and sisters in Christ might consider...if the music stopped, there was no light show, the pastor was boring, etc. , what would you have? My guess is an exodus to the church down the road. When Catholics experience this in Mass, we still have the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Read the about and the writings of the early Church Fathers in the first 4 centuries. You will find the same truths about the Eucharist and all the dogmas of the faith, both then and now.
    One more thing to think about direct from the KJV Luke chapter 1...which a better, less biased translation is "full of grace" not "highly favored."
    28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
    42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
    That is the Hail Mary prayer many reject.
    Hail [Mary] full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb [Jesus]. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
    If Mary is full of grace, she is holy. She is the Mother of God because she is Jesus' mother and he is God (divine). All of this is because of Jesus, not apart from Jesus.
    46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
    Does the sun start a fire? What about when the sun is focused with a magnifying glass? Jesus focused through Mary ignites our hearts with the love she has for Jesus. Don't miss this gift we have been given.
    May God bless you on your faith journey to the true Church of Jesus Christ.

      @Guess Work Well said. To expand on your comments about the Ark...it contained the Commandments (word of God), manna (bread from heaven) and Aaron's staff (holy priesthood). Jesus is the Word of God, the living bread from heaven (Eucharist) who was born in Bethlehem (house of bread) and the eternal High Priest. This clearly shows Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant.
      Brad Pitre, in his books and videos, shows many more types of Mary in the women of the Old Testament.

    • @jbloe555
      @jbloe555 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Volleyball_Chess_and_Geoguessr The NABRE is a modern translation by a think tank of "scholars." There is a joke that NAB means not a Bible. It is constantly being watered down with inclusive language and such. The Protestant NIV is even worse by omitting verses. Post-1960 Bibles drop fasting from Matthew 17:21 and Mark 9:28, some relegating it to a footnote. If the demons could not be cast out without prayer and fasting, and modern translations only say prayer, that would be a problem. It effectively disarms the faithful against evil. This is all part of the heresy of modernism that has crept into the Church. Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail, so modernism too shall pass.

    The insight to being joined to the body of Christ through the reception of the Eucharist is something I’ve been experiencing over the last few weeks too. I’ve been focusing on the Mass prayers more intently, and have noticed the pronouns used are mostly “we” and “us” and we also pray together “Our Father,” not “My Father.” We pray as a family to God. I think the only individual pronouns are in the prayer “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed” before we individually receive Christ in the Eucharist, and in the Nicene Creed we profess our personal belief in the foundational elements of the faith. Focusing on this unitive nature of our prayer doesn’t just help me to feel united to others in the church, but with the entire body of Christ throughout the world and in heaven, and with the angels too. What we participate in during Mass is truly beyond human comprehension!

    Hi , I have been an evangelical Christian my whole life, I believe most evangelicals read and study their bibles every day. It’s not so much we are dedicated to a church but more to the word of God . We could never give up on ‘ sola scriptura ‘ or put any man on the same authority as scriptures, even if that man was great and did many miracles we could not elevate Him to the authority of the word of God. I believe most evangelical Christians believe this , especially us older ones who have spent 40 , 50 ,60 years with our bibles as our guide . We don’t even put our own church and pastors on that same level

      Scripture is not always easy to understand. For instance how are we supposed to interpret John6 and the teaching of Jesus concerning eating His Flesh and drinking His Blood ?Similarly at the Last Supper. Jesus does not teach contradictory messages and yet we Christians have so many and varying interpretations of Scripture. That is why Jesus established one Church to go teach all nations. Blessings

      To add to others who commented on this thread...
      We also cannot forget that the Bible wasn't yet settled on. Until I believe it was the (Catholic) council of Rome in the late 4th century.
      So for the first 400 year's people learned by handing down the traditions.
      Anyone who does research on this subject, comes to see that you can't have Bible alone.
      I would also like to remind our Protestant friends that the "Sinners prayer" is not anywhere in the Bible.
      One more thing comes to mind...
      How does anyone begin learning about what is in the Bible? We learn by our parents handing down what they have learned...which is tradition...as well as Christmas and Easter.
      God bless you all, and thank you for allowing me to get my thoughts out!

    Here is what struck me about his Eucharistic miracle story. The Catholic church says that only a Catholic priest can consecrate the Eurcharist, so that is becomes the body and blood of Jesus. Jeff was at a protestant meeting that had communion, yet he feels that communion, though not at all done in the Catholic way, consecrated by a proper priest, has still become the body and blood. How can this be? The church must be wrong about something then.

    • @FiledUnderFaith
      @FiledUnderFaith  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's a fair question. It is true that only a priest can consecrate the Eucharist, no one else can. I don't know the specifics of what the church teaches about this possibility, but I don't see how "consecration is only possible by priests" prevents the possibility of Christ providing his flesh directly to someone.
      While looking into this just now, I did see that some saints have described how an angel brought them Communion. Saint Faustina experienced this when she was too ill to attend Mass: "In the evening, the sisters who were to look after me came and said ‘Tomorrow you will not receive the Lord, because you are very tired.’ Faustina wrote: "This hurt me very much but I said with great calmness, ‘Very well’, and resigning myself totally to the will of the Lord. In the morning I made my meditation and prepared for Holy Communion even though I was not to receive the Lord Jesus. When my love and desire had reached a high degree, I saw at my bedside a Seraph who gave me Holy Communion, saying these words ‘Behold the Lord of Angels.’ This was repeated for thirteen days. The Seraph was surrounded by a great light, the divinity and love of God being reflected in him. He wore a golden robe and over it, a transparent surplice and a transparent stole. The chalice was crystal, covered with a transparent veil. As soon as he gave me the Lord, he disappeared" (Diary, 1676)."
      Jeff's experience reminds me of an important truth: the Catholic Church contains the fullness of truth, but it is not a limit on what God can do. This is not to say that we all ought to live outside of the Church because it doesn't matter anyway. Rather, I mean to say that God sometimes works in ways that are either outside of the normal mode of things and/or in ways we have no explanation for.

    "Why does God allow all these different denominations?" Why does God allow Islam? Why did God allow gnosticism? Why did God create the world in such a way that evolution and millions of years could be a believable theory? Why does God allow children to suffer and die? I dunno, the bible says Satan rules this time. I guess we just have to seek the truth amid all of this. Does that mean Catholicism is the truth? Is it true that purgatory exists? Is it true that the pope can speak infallibly (on matters of faith and morals)? Is it true that Mary assumpted into heaven? Is it true that Mary is sinless? Is it true that we should pray to Mary? I think those are better questions.

    This is not scriptual. Jesus said himself this was a spiritual alegory.

      stop being judgmental because you do not know anything about catholic christianity . Perhaps you do more research about the Mother Church instead of saying many things against catholic church founded by our Lord Jesus Christ

      @@MiguelMangada hello Miguel. I know many things about the Catholic religion by reading the Bible and comparing scripture with what Catholicism teaches. I also know the history of the catholic religion beginnings. Do you read the Bible?

      Listen to what happened after Jesus told his followers that they must eat his flesh. (By the way, the word Jesus used for eat literally meant "gnaw".)
      Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?” When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you? What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.” From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” - John 16:60-69

      @@FiledUnderFaith First of all, nothing changes no matter using a big word for it. Bread remains bread. Wine remains wine. So obviously Jesus was speaking metaphorically and figuratively as Jesus didn't actually drink His own blood or eat His own body. The communion was to be a memorial of His sacrifice.
      The proof is that when Jesus walked on water, He really walked on water. When He changed water into wine it was really changed. And when He raised the dead, they came alive.
      Remember also that Jesus said He was thee door and He was the vine. Same thing here.
      Finally, Jesus made one sacrifice for all forever. He can't be sacrificed again such as the Catholic "sacrifice" of the Mass every Sunday.
