It should work great for a Hermann's tortoise! From what we have heard, Hermann's tortoises are very similar to Russian tortoises when it comes to taking care of them. Hope this helps!
Shello! It's still holding up pretty well. But we should note that we only use this enclosure outdoors in the warmer months on non-rainy days, so 4-5 months of use every year. Some of the paint has started chipping/peeling, but overall it's still in good shape!
Hey I saw your video and I had a question, so I just got mine in the mail and it has a really strong paint/chemical odor. I dont know if yours had that as well and I'm not sure if it is safe for my tortoise, thanks
It's holding up pretty well! We do use this only outside, so only during the warmer months of the year. We have not added a liner because of the plastic bottom (and it's in the sun all the time, so the exposed wood dries quickly), and we haven't treated the wood with anything since it is already painted. We generally try to cover it in heavy rain (mostly so the inside doesn't turn into a lake!), but otherwise it's outside in the elements for about half the year and in storage inside the other half of the year. So far it still looks pretty good! The paint has also stood up to determined tortoise scratching very well! Some minor, very small chipping on the paint in a couple of places, and the latches are loosening/rusting a little, but nothing we are worried about.
We do indeed. We use it for the warm months here, so ~half the year each year. We cover it with a plastic sheet in heavy rain but otherwise leave it be outside in the elements for those months. The wood on the edge of the lid has started cracking this year and the paint is chipped in a few places, but otherwise still in good condition and we expect to still use it for at least another summer or two.
Shello! We're not super familiar with redfoots, but we believe they are a bit bigger than Russian tortoise like me. This tortoise house is a good size for a tortoise with a shell length around half a foot. Of course, more space is always better, too!
Shello! If the rain is heavy, we cover my tortoise house with a plastic sheet so it doesn't get completely soaked and the inside doesn't turn into a pool. But we leave it uncovered in light rain and throughout the summer, and it does fine! After several summers, the wood on the edge of the lid is starting to crack, but overall still in pretty good condition.

Another Great Video As Always
Awesome

How well does it hold up after 2 years? Do you have to use liner to prevent the wood side panels from molding or anything like that?

Do you use this enclosure still?

Kirby is officially a homeowner now
Do you know what type of wood it is made out of by any chance?
Beautiful Home
I have a 3 year old red foot tortoise. Would this house be big enough for now?
