"It's not that much about the years" YES * 1000. I've met people who are 22-24, only in programming for 2-3 years and who are far more advanced than some people who work as a developer for 10+ years. It's all about being proactive, learning / reading / writing new things during free time. During working hours, there is not really time to improve, especially when you have been doing this job for a long time and you have never tried to improve, because you will always go for the simplest and fastest solution.
I'm 19 and just started working at a small software dev company with 3 seniors, i'm the only junior. I got demotivated pretty quick when I saw it toke me 3 hours for a task that they could finish in 1 hour. Nobody complained about it, but it just didn't feel right... Thanks Pov, this made me feel a little bit easier going in to the weekend
Only 3 hours ? Hahaha, 10 years ago when I was a junior just starting I would stay at work 4 more hours every day just to understand the codebase because it'd take me more than half a day to get something the lead dev would do in 1 hour. Now I'm the lead dev doing those things in 1 hour, so don't worry. Don't forget that when joining a new company there are 2 layers of difficulty : your own skill level, AND the company codebase that you have to learn. It takes time, just stay organized as much as you can, and practice as Pov said.
@@zHqqrdz Agreed, but it still doesn't feel right you know? Pushing sprintitems for this week to next week and stuff. When I was still a student on school projects, I would always have everything done for the weekend. But you indeed can't compare that, that was my own codebase and what I'm working on now is theirs. Thanks for sharing your story, it helps :)
Same, I even almost quit within 3 months but was told to relax. See the positives such as are you learning and becoming better. Yes I was. Remained, and everything just getting better with a relaxed mind. You cant understand the code base or learn everything within a short time. Enjoy the journey. Viola
good advice.. I am glad when I look back to one year back of myself, I am a bit proud on how much I improved myself. I think it is ok to consider Senior Devs as your inspiration !
Learn the fundamentals of whatever you try to master and learn debugging. It seems like these 2 come in handy when it comes to not stagnating on problems and excelling.
Being a senior developer takes time, let's enjoy the journey. There are lots of challenges along the way, but these challenges can shape us for the future.
No matter how senior you'll get, there will always be more senior than you. The key is to keep learning and learn smart. Learn based on the job at hand and you'll make progress. (forget about the shiny new tech)
Dear Povilas Thank you for your advice. My boss often says ‘You are still junior level, try to work harder and harder’. I have been feeling stress with his words. I have lost confidence, because what he says is right. But your advice is contrastic with my boss’s words. I will take a broad view of things, and I will try to take part in extra outside of my work. Not comparing me with others, I will try to do my best with confidence!!! Povilas, I am looking forward to enjoy wonderfull videos!
To be honest, if I were you, I would be looking to change the company, if your boss is pressuring you like this. Of course, you need challenges to evolve, but it doesn't mean "work harder and harder".
Hi. as much as I know, seniors do create architecture in most of the time, and bones of the project. That means it's DB and core of it, practicing a lot, working towards business logic side. Solving business logic problems may make you senior a bit quicker. IMO.
Sir I am facing an issue from a long time. Whenever I try to return back after doing a task from controller using return redirect()->back(). The application itself goes to the '/' url i.e the home url in the RouteServiceProvider. The same is happening whenever there is some error in form and I have used formRequest for validation.
@@LaravelDaily but sir what about the formRequest it always redirect back by itself when a rule gets failed. So should I use Validator facade but it will increase the length of controllers??

These videos as *published* on Saturday, but actually filmed a few days before, usually on my way back from the office, somewhere near home. That said, I started this Saturday at 7am in a local coffee shop, working, cause I don't find enough focus work time during weekdays, with two children at home.
" Don't compare yourself to others, compare yourself with your previous self a year ago. " - this is true in every area of life.
Agreed

Greetings from Málaga, Spain
This video is what I needed. Thank you so much for your generosity!
I hired myself as senior developer 😀
Good points, BTW.
I just look back every year on how much I've learned and done to accomplish my goal.
Yes, a year is a good period to compare yourself with

It's entirely possible to send up over one's head taking Senior too early.
It takes you 5000 hours to become an expert on any field 😁🔥
Actually 10 000 hours, according to most theories :)
