    My ears perked up when I heard you pronounce "kanske" as "kan-hue", as I had always thought it was "kan-she". Going up on Forvo I found out both pronunciations are valid, but now I will be more attentive to when I hear "kan-hue" spoken out loud.

    The cuisine incident reminded me when I was at the Vasa museum, read some carvings in the toilet and asked my dad out loud "Dad, what does 'sug kuk' mean?"

      Nej, sug kuk är inte samma sak som att äta korv eller sug korv.

    Daniella, I have an unreasonable amount of love for Scandinavia:) I'm romanian, and I feel as norwegian or swedish or icelandic as I do romanian. In july, I will go to the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literature here in Bucharest and I will study swedish (language A) and english (language B). In year 2, I will have norwegian classes for the rest of the four semesters (year 2 and 3). I am beyond thrilled and happy and cannot wait to start learning these languages seriously. And I have to give myself a pat on the back because I'm quite familiar with the scandinavian phonetics at this point, all the music I listen to, since 3 years ago, is in norwegian, swedish, icelandic, old norse. I can't wait. I will learn from your videos, much love!

    To highlight how the soft K is pronounced in “kex”, don’t write “shex”, write “kjex”. This is how this sound is spelt in many other words “kjol”, “Kjell“ etc. The ”Shex” spelling would be pronounced “sjex” (sj far back) in Västergötland where we actually use the soft K in “kjex”. Some people even say “kjellogs corn flakes”.

    I korthet gäller reglen om hårda och mjuka vokaler för det mesta. När ett ord är ett lånord kan reglerna vara annorlunda. 'Kex' är från engelska 'cakes', ironiskt nog inlånat från 'kaka' i sin tur.
    Det finns också ord som 'kille' där det redan finns med mjukt k som namnet på ett förr populärt kortspel, och därför uttalas 'kille'='(ung) man' med hårt k.

    Hello I have found your channel to be a wonderful resource to aid my desire to learn Swedish. I was wondering if you could do a video on Swedish text abbreviation and slang? For example in English we use BRB for be right back. Would “ev.” be an abbreviated way of writing eventuellt? Are there other examples of this in the Swedish language? Thanks in advance!

    Is there a difference between soft "k" and "sk" pronunciation in rikssvenska? Is it the same sound or a different one in kära / skära, or kött / skött?
    UPD: nvm, forgot about the throat "sj" sound :D

    • @FunSwedish
      @FunSwedish  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In our pronunciation course we talk more specific about how you pronunce k and sk in rikssvenska. I recommend you to take that course.
      Pre-recorded courses: funswedish.teachable.com/courses/
      But yes, we do prononunce "kära" and "skära" in different ways... same with kött and skött. The K + Ä / Ö sounds more like a sh-sound and SK + Ä / Ö sounds more like an sj-sound (like in "sju).

    How do you explain, kör (shör) = drive and kör (kör) = choir?

    • @FunSwedish
      @FunSwedish  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      kör as in choir is a borrowed word from French so it breaks the normal pronunciation rule. That is why it is pronunced as a K-sound and not a SH-sound even if its followed by Ö.

    you are such a good teacher genuinely, i have autism so it is kind of difficult for me to understand certain ways of teaching, but you teach extremely well and also seem very kind and very understanding that not everyone will get it all the time and that is really important to me 🩷🩷
