Probably Slay the Spire for me. I have friends that used to play MTG who do not play any board games outside of D&D. Slay the Spire was an easy sell to get them over and try out.
I'm so happy that I found your channel. Half the reason I buy a game is because of the art, so I feel like I've found a channel that finally gives it more weight than any where else.
Draft and Write records is my top 2024 game, Harmonies is a close 2nd. I only played 9 games released in 2024. But i played 62 new to me games and 113 different games
I'm not sure what my #1 game of the year would be, but a few 2024 releases that I've loved that didn't make your lists are Stonespine Architects, Foundations of Metropolis, Neon Reign, and Skyrise.
Great picks, you two! I still have not made up my mind about 2024 games as a whole… but Vegetable Stock’s 2024 is my first experience with the game and it has hit the table tons with so many different folks due to its simplicity and how fast it is to play.
My top 2024 game is Ezra and Nehemiah, I just want to play it again and again. Second is Men Nefer which you really should try. The rest is very different from most reviewers. Watching this I also learned that my taste is much more aligned with Ilya than Taylor.
I have to say my favorite game of 2024 was and is Harmonies. I love the solo mode on it and will pull it out on remote days and play it on my lunch break.
I was going to have to have words with you both if harmonies wasn’t on this list 😂 But all the way at 9 Ilya? You’re killing me 😂 such a good game and probably my game of the year followed by cascadia rolling rivers/heights. Both play great solo too!
That being said every time I look at harmonies it bugs me that the wood tokens don’t have a pattern on them but all the other ones do. Think I’m going to try and add my own
2024 is my first year as a board gamer! (I lived abroad 6 years after college so I didn’t want to amass too much stuff to take back to America) I own about 50 games and I’m really happy. I’m not buying any new games 2025, I want to enjoy my collection and play all of them many many times over 2025 I don’t want a big board game collection, I want a streamlined collection where all of my games get played regularly
@@ten_oclock_scholar4690 we only just got this game when we went to PAXU! Very excited to play it over the holidays, I’ve heard nothing but great things!
In a two player game there really isn’t “king making” because there’s only one target other than yourself who could win. In a 3-4 player game the social game comes into play, which sometimes is great and other times can mean ganging up on someone or playing a social game to win rather than a mechanics driven one. As we haven’t played in 3-4 we haven’t experienced what that looks like but the statement in either or just means there will likely be a hard preference for one or the other. I hope that makes sense.
🎲 Question of the Day: What was your favorite game from 2024? Let us know what you played and loved the most in the comments!
I've been playing solo Cascadia flip & write and it's a good time.

@@DebRichardson Such a fun game!
@@greggeroni2180 We both really want to try this one!
Fromage, at this point. Harmonies in second. And, if I get more plays of it in it might be Arcs.

@@shannimarmen8201 113 different games is AMAZING! I (Ilya) still need to play Draft and Write Records!

We have unfortunately not played any of those although we’ve been dying to playing Stonespire Architects! Hopefully we will remedy that soon!
Omg I’ve been wanting to try Bomb Busters - now I HAVE to get it to the table!!
You simply MUST!

Vegetable Stock is such a fun little clever game! We’ve played many games of that one, what a great pick!
LOVE your channel!
We're so glad you're here!
I love the format of talking about a game once :)

Favorite 2024 game is Stonespine Architects! Quickly became a favorite for our family.
We really need to get this one to the table ASAP!
I always get so surprised when yall mention the big euros, more euro content please! We should collab
We do love our crunchy games :) Always a joy to get them to the table!

It is such a phenomenal game, this was just such a hard year to choose the best games you know? Rolling is also a wonder!
@ I get you. Luckily I have played many 2024 games yet as I’m waiting for them to be delivered so it makes it a lot easier 😂

We’ve not played it yet but really want to! It was so good to see you at PAXU!
Great list, gentlemen. Great year of games.
@@Oaklestat Thank you so much! We couldn’t agree more.
I think my favorite game of 2024 has been Under Grove. I just find it very satisfying trying to manage my resources and spread my roots!
@@JymmiF We also really enjoy this one! The wooden tiles in the deluxe edition also feel SO GOOD!
@@kovray I was so tempted to get the wooden tiles!
gosh! I love your blazer! 🫠
Tylor did not knit this one! He has been crocheting a lot lately 🥰 Thank you for the kind words.
Nice to see Flatiron get love. It’s great. It is a 1 or 2 player game, btw.
Ooo good catch! Will have to try it solo soon!
Earthborne Rangers is my game of the year! Technically it released in 2023, but I didn't play it until 2024.

Idk what you mean by you only wanting to play arcs at 2 or 3/4. You can only play arcs in a 2,3, or4 player game
