    I would be glad if Channels TV anchors a public debate on this subject. We should also get the ministers of Agriculture and National Security Adviser involved, because this touches on our national safety.

    Prof, is hitting the nails on the head even when he close his eyes, i must say he is well aware of what is going on, this topic is one of the most important topics to pay attention to for Africa and many other countries who have dreams to feed their people independently, great lesson Professor, you just plant some knowledge seeds,

    What a credible and well-spoken expert in the person of Prof. Amua. The EU has restricted the use of GMOs for many years now. Indian farmers are contractually strangled by it, and American states are finding legal ways to limit its spread. These bodies have the resources to provide good healthcare for their populace. Why does Nigeria want to invite another resource-draining burden on top of all the burdens we already have. Nigeria's problem is not crop yield but rather production management. Being able to utilize all available arable land, harvesting, transporting, storing, processing, and distributing agricultural produce effectively and efficiently. This is what industrialization is all about. Thanks to Channel Television for educating the public, as usual, you are the best! Awesome hosts, current topics, knowledgeable experts, and great debates!

    This video ought to have more traction than this. Our people's ignorance about this so angered me 13 years ago. Unfortunately, not much has changed till now. Read about India, Canada and many others. Even UK and EU control it.

      Liar!!! GMO farming uses the no-till method and winter cover crops to enhance soils. GMO farming uses 37% less pesticides and less water and fuel. African soil has already been destroyed by stone age farming practices. GMO methods can restore it.

    People should stop saying there are no studies. Dr Shiva Ayyadurai did research on GMO (soy) and found that the level of formaldehyde in the plants increased when subjected to draught. Draught is one of the reasons for genetically modifying crops.
    The big question is what is the effect of formaldehyde on humans or animals.
    You find out for yourself.

    • @popeyegordon
      @popeyegordon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should stop believing liars. You can find no proof of ANY peer reviewed studies that were done honestly by the fraud Ayyadurai. There is no difference in the content of ANY chemicals in GMO crops, GMO is never an actual ingredient. It is only a breeding method for better seeds. "V. A. Shiva Ayyadurai (born Vellayappa Ayyadurai Shiva[1] on December 2, 1963) is an Indian-American engineer, politician, entrepreneur, and anti-vaccine activist. He has become known for promoting conspiracy theories, pseudoscience, and unfounded medical claims.[2][3][4][5][6]" Wikipedia

      Research is ongoing.
      There's a political, economic and tradition angles to the issues of GMOs.
      The fear and distrust comes from lack of enough information to the said topic. It's seen as an attack on nature.
      Most of the Soy beans produced in the US, Brazil are GMOs. Infact about 80%. Nigeria imports soy beans from these countries .

    I get why people are suspicious of GMO's but genetically modified food isn't bad for you. Its only food chosen by very selective breeding, not adding in any extra proteins, genetic materials, or toxic chemicals. With genetically modified food, our fruit, grains, oats, etc, would all be like how they were thousands of years ago. People have always taken seeds from crops that produce higher yields of food than from crops that don't. What IS a problem, especially in the US, is actually putting toxic chemicals and preservatives in our food. But that has nothing to do with GMO'S. Mother nature in a way has been implementing GMO's too, its just natural selection. When we artificially select based on yield, thats a GMO
