Jess, this Midwesterner agrees on a: motorcycle tent camping, b: lack of great spots in the midwest, c: desire to do more and more of it and d; detest talking gas stations. Encourage you to keep heading south into WV, though. Plum Hollow Lake (in Fayette County) is a favorite spot. And Before SD gets too bad, understand that fall is THE BEST time to do the camping thing... Something about the changing colors, cooler nights, camp coffee, lack of insects....scent of fire. Confession: I've even camped in the snow a couple times. Loved it.

Again Jess I have enjoyed you thoughts. Today is 9-9-20 I woke up to an Orange Sky and a pile of fires around me. As I have stated I'm located in Rio Vista, CA. Your beautiful blue sky is refreshing to see. Enjoy your day and I'll look forward to the next one. Stay well.

I grew up in a cold winter state , I left that snow / cold winter stuff about 10 years ago . Now I can ride all year round , it's the greatest feeling . Also no more grumpy people complaining about the cold / snow ever year that is so annoying to me haha . Snow is fun to vacation in for a week that's about it , I can't believe people want to be cold for 7 months out the year ....thanks for the vid !

I am going to give my 2 cents. Don't worry about having to have a topic for a video. I subscribed to your channel because of your personality. I love how you just love riding you bike. How you talk to all the animals and the big basket. You bring a huge smile to my face every time I watch. And as a bonus your videos always look and sound great. I hope you have a great day.

Go to Red River Gorge in Kentucky . If you go you can hike in off one of the trailheads but you must camp 300' off the trail . Been doing it for a long time . They also have great primitive camping grounds .

Like Ron White, I don’t like camping when I’m camping. That said, we’re looking at getting a travel trailer at some point soon. Considering a toy hauler to bring the bike, but a travel trailer isn’t camping as much as it’s living temporarily in a tiny house. I do respect those that tent camp, especially on a bike. Not like you can pack everything you might want, you have to be smart about the available space you have to carry everything.
I tried iced coffee last week and found that I like it a lot more than I thought I would. I have a 30oz RTIC tumbler I use for about 24oz of coffee. Filled it with ice and then the coffee and it was good stuff. Much more refreshing on a hot day. Thanks for posting.

Jess, I always feel entertained by the content of your videos, the ride, the commentary. the occasional giggle and of course the excitement when you spot a "Good Boy"!! I've been riding for 55 years, so I've got to call you out for something you did in this video. For the sake of your safety. You gased up sitting on your scoot and even splashed fuel on your pants!! That my friend is a huge NO NO!! In my lifetime of riding I personally witnessed 3 gas station incidents where gas splashed down onto the hot engine or exhaust on bikes and a fire erupted. One of the riders was burnt pretty badly, the other two got lucky with minor burns. PLEASE don't do that!! Keep doing what you do! I/WE all enjoy your channel immensely!!

I love to motorcycle camp too. Bringing a bunch of extra stuff isn’t worth the effort and stress! In the PNW a lot of the time it’s hard to find a good campsite but I’ve had good luck calling ahead to book a site. I tell them than I’m on a cruiser and over the last 4 years I have had excellent experiences with campgrounds letting me know if their campground will suit my needs. If they can’t, they can often give me tips on better places to camp. To help me sleep at night, I do much better with ear plugs than melatonin or Benadryl. After a couple of times I find I sleep best with the lower level decibel plugs (vs the ones that block everything out). Awesome videos!!!

North Carolina might be ways for you to go for just a couple of days camping, but I’ll tell you that we have motorcycle only camp grounds. My personal favorite is Willville Motorcycle Camp. Each site I’ve visited is very nice with shade, cleared of rocks, etc. Good luck.

I can camp out on my screened in back porch. I have 100 acres of forest behind my home. I understand why you have to get away from the urban sprawl. Great that you can get away once in a while and chill in the country. I got away from the snow and cold about 36 years ago and went south. I can ride all year now. Be safe out there Jess.

  • @kalimarus

I've done a lot of backpacking especially when I was younger and find Hammocks like a Hennessey or now Warbonnet to be the most comfortable to sleep in (you sleep diagonally in those, no banana effect). However, you need to know all the tricks for when the weather gets cold with a hammock. For backpacking they're great, light, hang's anywhere there are trees (or setup on the ground with polls). They work well for that. For motocamping the tent wins for me as well. Having a place to get in and keep the gear dry helps a lot when it's raining. I travel with two 28 liter side panniers, one with my full camping kit, tent/down bag/bag liner (boost cold wx rating and on hot days just use that) and a Big Agnes insulated air pad and an inflatable pillow. It all fits in that one side case perfectly. I keep my clothes and heated jacket/gloves in a 50 L dry bag on the rear seat and the other panier holds my stove/food/water. That way in bear country I can just put the case in a bear box or hang it away from the campsite and all food smells stay with that one case. I bring comfortable ear plugs for sleep if it's a noisy location and generally try to avoid places with lots of RV's as they run generators all the time. My 106L of storage was all I needed for a full set of clothing for all conditions from freezing cold to hot (with heated gear) to travel up to Alaska and back for 27 days camping the whole way. If you haven't tried heated gear it will change a 40-50 degree day into a really pleasant riding experience when used correctly. Heating your core keeps your feet and hands warm. For side sleepers out there where a mummy bag is miserable checkout spoon-shaped bags from places like Nemo. The down bags are amazing and pack small so you don't use up a ton of storage space.

We just came off of a 5K duelsport ride through the COBDR into Utah then the Idaho BDR. 20 days on the KTM 690. Yep, I keep melatonin in my backpack too. And this time I tried one of those pack cots that's about 6 or so inches off the ground. My hip liked it allot better than sleeping on an air pad.. it's kinda bulky but not as bad as I thought it would be weighs about 5lbs... We would camp about 3 to 4 days then motel sleep in a good bed.. And the cot fit in my twoman tent also. And great video too! Thanks for sharing. Ride safe!!!

I also love motorcycles; I live however in a country where they have kei-cars (small cars with engine displacement of max 660cc) i used my small Suzuki Every (jp) to go camping about 2 years ago. Mileage for a two week trip was just below 25 km/l. The car seats in the back collapse so that two people can sleep stretched out with a madress and warm comforter - the bed remains ready made! Perfect camping for a few weeks, and the car is probably no more expensive than your bike. (Since I travel by myself when out and about, there is plenty of space.)
I admire how you can take bike travel cold or hot, but I do prefer my little bed on wheels if so desired.

Thanks for another great video. I'm from Washington State and they just extended all the park camping, which usually ends on Labor Day, for another month. We also have a handful of camping parks that are open year-round since the weather is very mild here. I too have a Harley, a 16 Street Glide, which has seen many, many days with me solo camping. Keep up the good work and I always look forward to your next one.

Leaving on a 10 day rode trip in a week and a half from Houston to Eastern Tennessee and back through Kentucky. Camping all the way. Nothing finer then waking up to a cool crisp morning know hot coffee is just a few minutes away. You continue to ride, camp and live your life as you want. Spray the lens on your speedo with a light coating of hairspray and that will cut the glare.

I had every intention of doing a lot more camping this year after my first trip in April. But it's far too hot and humid to stay on the Gulf Coast and tent camp this time of year, and I'm coming up on 5 months without full-time employment, so traveling North isn't an option right now. On the plus side though, October usually gives us about three perfect weeks of weather and there's actually a State Park right here in Mobile, so I'll take advantage of it then. Peace and love.

    Hey Jess.
Been enjoying your content so far. I agree that camping in a tent is much better.
Here in Australia we have thousands of free camping areas to enjoy but they have limited facilities as well. Most have long drop toilets, many have tables and fire pits and some have nothing at all. There are numerous sites that are right on the edge of a stream or a lake which is just lovely.
I'm from the state of Victoria in the city of Melbourne. You may have heard on the news that we area currently (as at Sept 22nd) still in severe stage 4 lockdown due to covid 19. We're not allowed to travel more than 3 miles from home to get food or supplies or exercise. We have a 9pm-5am curfew. Many businesses have their staff working from home and those that do travel about for work must have a Victorian worker permit in their pocket. We must also wear a face mask when leaving home. No public gatherings are allowed and we MUST stay home if we are not out for work or food or medical appt. And we certainly are not allowed to travel and camp out anywhere.
If you leave the city limit to enter regional area of our state, which I regularly do for work, you must show your permit to work and be able to prove you have a valid reason for doing so. If the police feel that you're on breach of the restrictions they will issue a fine, done up to$5,000 Aus. It's terrible...
Wife and I are really looking forward to having our freedoms restored so we can load our motorcycle up and go camping... so we're currently doing so vicariously thru your videos and others until our day comes.
    Thanks for your great content.
    Keep up the good work.

I think wild camping is allowed on dartmoor too, or at least some parts of it 👍

Props to you doing all these solo trips 🤘Most of the sites are still closed in Florida,so we decided to do a bnb. It was our first "long distance ride" on the bikes. 250 miles one way. It was an absolute blast, and we were able to get a decent amount of footage from it.

I recently bought a Honda Shadow and have been learning to ride all over again. My last time riding my own was 20 yrs ago and back then no girls were riding. When I found your channel I was surprised to see we live in the same town and have been watching ever since. I enjoy your camping ones especially and am hoping to do it myself. How about a hosting a woman's night or two of camping with Jess? I have a couple girlfriend's that ride and we would like to invite you to ride with us sometime. Keep sharing the love of a woman and Her Two Wheels. ❤️💯

I took my bike camping but the ground to get to the site was dirt and it rained. I had to park my harly down by the entrance. It was still a fun time but its hard to find a camp ground that is motorcycle friendly in Northern Colorado.

    Hi Jess
The sound your Dyna made when you left the petrol station was intoxicating. A black speedo dial would eliminate reflections. Love your videos, ride safe.

put a lightly tinted polarized tint on your speedo. it'll keep reflectiveness down.

Don't know about Ohio but there's plenty of public land for camping here in both peninsulas of Michigan 😎 And keep up the good work young lady !

It's a bit of a drive but check out northern Michigan, there's a lot of areas to be able to camp for free or a very low fee. The fall color change is coming so it's a good time to check out m119, tunnel of trees

Hey, I noticed on your helmet GoPro you’ve taken off the door on your GoPro for the audio adaptor. To waterproof it again you can buy silicon putty ear plugs on amazon to stick in it. I just found that out a couple of days ago.
    Good video

iPod Nano? Hell, I still use my Zune! Mainly because there are thousands of hair metal songs on it, and you can't find these great ones any more. :)
Tried going camping two weeks ago...site is on fire. Tried again 3 days later at a new spot 100 miles away...on fire. Tried two days ago north of me on the coast...on fire. Sometimes, California is just too hot to handle!
