That discord screenshot of them discussing holding you hostage was so unbelievably cringe. Imagine literally wasting your life away trying to annoy someone who could not care less
Fr, you could literally do anything else, you could be studying, you could be learning skills, you could be playing the game normally, but you decide to be a loser and ruin games for people lol
These people love having power over others typical narcissits. They feel like they have no power over their lives so they do it in a game to others who are trying to enjoy their game.

This is his livelihood, how he pays his bills to support his wife and kids. They aren't just being sore losers or trolls to ruin someone's game, they're actively screwing with his income.

For anyone that gets held hostage cause they are a streamer and can't swap between multiple devices like SpooknJukes, the prevailing method to get hackers to stop is to start spamming ads on your channel constantly until they leave.
That will not only take the screen away from them and their activity, but you will get a bunch of money. Hackers get FURIOUS realizing their hostage taking is not only inconsequential, but they are also indirectly flooding the streamer with cash.
ehh that doesn't really work tho lol. The whole point is to get the devs to take the DC penalty off the game. But honestly, this whole video and everything is just odd because it just shows that people take DBD waaaay too serious lol.

This just doesn't work - for large streamers it's fine, they have hundreds of subs that'll not be impacted by the adverts and will get to continue watching and have a conversation with the streamer, smaller streamers who's viewers are much less committed and still trying to grow will have any potentially new viewers dip out as soon as they have to watch a single ad.
@@JBMetalProductions You can't take the DC penalty off though. A lot of people that are upset with the DH nerf are leaving matches to try and throw the stats to force BHVR to bring it back. Imagine no time limit to that for them.
This most certainly won’t work for small time streamers that don’t have 2 consoles. You do realize the small amount of revenue generated per ad correct? Unless you think that spamming ads for a 4 hour stream to make an additional $1 is worth it. I get that you watch another content creators video on what he does, but there is less than 20 streamers that have the amount of viewers necessary for this to make any difference. The rest are essentially losing an opportunity to grow their community and are actually killing their own stream because only the subs can talk to the streamer and the rest would leave the stream losing their views which effects their overall fan base.
when you mentioned playing on mobile I laughed so hard. I think its so entertaining seeing how you and everyone else defeats these cheaters. I hope bhvr eventually gets rid of all the cheaters so everyone can have fun again.
Cheaters are like a disease. You can ward them off, invent new cures, but there's always going to be more diseases.
Yeah, I don't get the issue, game dev is hard and you have deadlines for updates but... how hard is it to check, on hook, if 1 player, kill player, if the killer gets the hooked player status and animation, the dedicated server passed that info through, so why not add a basic check

The fact that the devs still havent added a kill switch for the game to end once end game collapse ends is absolutely a failure on their part. The community shouldnt have to be dealing with this in the first place. Bad ban practices, unhelpful anti-cheat, and no kill switch for the game in the form of a "give up" button for end game or an automatic one for end game collapse, the devs have honestly just failed on this front.

The devs are clueless about basic it security stuff. Besides the things you mentioned, I looked at the behaviour account webpage. It can show me my current password in plain text (!).
They state that "We recommend you pick a unique password that you do not use for any other online account."
I'd recommend that too since the fact that they can show me my password in plain text means that they store it like that in their databases, which is a big no-go. Passwords should be stored in a hashed (sort of one-way "encryption") form, where the original plaintext password is essentially unrecoverable.
Edit: I had very little time when I wrote this, so I could not verify the finding at all. At first i searched through the network responses from the server for my password, but nothing showed up. It might have still been possible that the JavaScript codes retains the password after log-in. But it seems that my browser's password manager (auto-fillin) was the culprit. :/ Welp, I've not used this password manager for any important web site but I did not deem Behaviors website as important enough to warrant using my external password manager which does no auto-fillin whatsoever.

Turns out they found a debug enabled client and that company sells it..like. OmG BHVR this is so basic gamedevelopment: on a open platform like Unreal: turn of the singleplayer cheatcodes. and then sandbox your developer mode to be VPN only for employees of BHVR.
AND you know the biggest company now? hire some of the staff, while suing the company-- trust me: just the pressure from them trying to cruicify the company? with very real legal action to users? you will see activity drop because its like: nock nock motherfucker, gamewarden here your ass off to jail for a very long time- oh what's that you suddenly don't know how to do that? funny--we'll be keeping an eye on you.

One time I was spirit on the crows map and 2 seconds after I loaded in a gen popped. Then I saw a Claire zooming around and hooking herself. There was a cute Laurie in my game, she wanted me to hook her but I declined. I wanted her to escape but she stayed in endgame and got killed by the entity. I will never forget that Laurie

I try to give myself to the killer when the game starts and 5 gens pop and the gate is opened and they escape instantly lol. It's happened a lot since the last update. They usually don't want the kill tho
The same thing happened with me and a Nea. A Dwight kept blinding me and even when I downed him, he just got up and zoomed away. The other two escaped just wanting to leave out of annoyance, but Nea stood behind next to me and died. :(

@@KingBurger52 I'd actually do the same but when I have killers that won't hook they tend to be motioning to leave.. i.e. swinging at the gate, head nodding etc. in those situations I wouldn't let the whole EGC timer finish cuz I would assume that would be annoying
Same if we’re close to endgame and the killer hasn’t gotten anyone I’ll sacrifice myself. Sometimes I’ll get a nice killer that’ll give me the hatch. But either way I don’t mind being the sacrifice especially since you don’t know if you’re facing a baby killer
It makes me so angry that there are hackers that go into streams and totally disrupt it or even stop it. This is how a lot of people make their living, it is their job, how they provide for their family… what on earth do hackers aim to get from this? It’s just stupid, childish and down right disgusting
Most of them are 16 year olds living in their moms basements with nothing better to do and no responsibilities, so they do their best to get attention in any form possible, good or bad, and just make people as miserable as they can.

Just imagine how many people you vsed and some of them were hackers that are trying to not be obvious, wall hacks is one of those. I had a game the other day where 1 survivor did not fall for any of my mindgames and it looked like he had wallhacks but i cant be 100% sure... sad that there are people like this

I experienced a cheater in dbd that literally was hooking himself,flying and healing instantly but he really sucked lol
all the obvious hackers are always bad. i think its because theyre new and just "having fun" cheating in dbd before they move onto the next game to cheat in. also the game is basically playing itself for them so they never even get the chance to learn anything.
I caught one once. He unhooked himself. Did all the gens instantly and dissapeared immediately

@@ryokiritani4187 The thing about avoiding people to hack in your game is that it isn't that easy to deal with it by yourself (like build a entirely new anti cheat just for your game, since this costs $$$$$$ af). Let's all hope that they have a way to abandon the easy anti-cheat systemn cause they (easy-anti cheat programn) are terrible at this. Most games that use easy anti-cheat have lots of hackers on and it's kinda terrible.
@@sawoon337 they don't need to build a new anticheat or do anything that'd cost a lot of money, it's as simple as they need to NOT TRUST THE CLIENT, do some basic logic checks, if survivor sends hook packet to dedicated server, 1. Is the killer carrying the survivor, if yes, 2. How many players are left, 1. Kill player

DC penalty is a necessary evil but it should never be as punishing as it is currently 5 mins max is my opinion. Also I feel like there should be no penalty if end game is triggered or a certain amount of time is passed . Sure you’ll lose blood points but dcing in the end game collapse almost never hurts anyone but yourself.
This actually happened when I was playing survivor, and it happened to be an Ace and I believe the Jake (unless it was Dwight), who were hacking.
The funny part being, they didn't reveal any cheats until I was on death hook. The Ace used the hook cheat to go in front of the hook I was about to be placed on, so the killer couldn't get the kill.
And so they chased after Ace, I got the trap off of my head. The sad part was they had just bought the game, it was their second match.
Anyways, I gave her the kill since I didn't want to be associated with them. Once the game was over, I gave the killer a quick "ggwp, sorry the Ace and Jake (Dwight?) were hacking. I hope you have a good next game."
They thought I was cheating as well because those two had been. Though I'm 99% sure you can't cheat on xbox, even if you could- I don't even know how to work my xbox properly T-T
Had the situation cleared up, but its sad they uninstalled because of terrible people like that ruining it for everyone.

This makes me really sad, game is already losing players and cheaters don't care because they dont spend the time to get good at the game like the rest of us do. They can move onto the next game after this 1 dies and won't care coz they can cheat on those games too, while the rest of us have to put in the effort to learn the game and git gud.
That's really unfortunate the player uninstalled and really unlucky they got cheaters in their second game. I just passed 200 hours recently and have only had one (at least blatant) cheater in my game which was probably somewhere around the 150-160 hour mark. Either I'm really lucky or I'm just not worth cheating against since I'm not a streamer.

Perfect timing, I was just getting held hostage by 3 cheaters. Too bad I dont have a second console, I only play on switch.
So I just decided to watch some videos or streams, glad to stuble upon this.
I had that happen to me before. 3 were keeping me hostage while 4 gens were left so they got 1 survivor which I believe was a Kate do all the gens and the 3 hackers were body block keeping me hostage so they could get away while still having some bloodpoints while I was enjoying some time hearing gens pop till the last one did and they were waiting for the gate to open so they could "levitate" away. But ofcourse it didn't end there, one hacker decided to stay behind and I was just looking at them, 360 hitting them and that's when they had enough and gave me the kill. Oddly satisfying I beat a hacker.
Majority of the cheaters I've seen are on PC so I just turn off crossplay because I don't wanna deal with that nonsense

@@MayFleet I as a Switch player cant turn of crossplay. Not because the que times would be 40 minutes but its Physically impossible to turn it off.
It always baffles me that this kind of situation is easily detectable by a machine, which you know: end-game collapse last more than 5 minutes. They can activate a listener when EGC starts, and forcibly end the game when the timer on the listener exceeds 5 minutes. It is not a solution, but at least it can somewhat "handle" the hostage situation.
Tinfoil hat theory here... what if the mori change is a stealth way to combat hostage situations? if the end of the match cinema scene they intend for it to become triggers when the game determines the last survivor is downed/hooked then maybe this style of hostage will be shut down as a side effect.?
That would be a smart concept but might be giving BHVR too much credit. I think the mori change will have it where if one survivor is alive during EGC, if the killer downs them, it automatically goes into the mori animation. But cheaters can make sure they never get downed or do their dumb floating in the air thing.
Just a suggestion in case they really do try and get you on all platforms - if you have any single player games on any platform you're not being held hostage in, have that hacker cam there and play a different game until they leave. That way they can't do that deadlock on all platforms since I can smell desperation coming from that server.
What I find most impressive about this is how BHVR has allowed this particular "mechanic" to continue for this long. And I don't mean the hacks themselves, but whatever it is that stops the game from ending when the hackers hook themselves like that. Is it because the entity's kill animation never takes place? And if so, is it really that difficult to add a timer that activates right after the endgame collapse ends, and that if a survivor is still in the game by the time this second timer runs out, they get kicked from the match? Normal survivors WILL die to the collapse, so it's clear that any one that remains after that is a hacker.
As an extra precaution, I would make it so any survivor that gets kicked by this mechanic doens't get a penatly for matchmaking, nor points. It might sound weird that no penalty should be applied for this, but let's be honest, the hackers don't care about points, and they will, most likely, have a way to bypass the matchmaking penalty. If they have a way to keep other survivors in the game until this second timer stops, then at least the normal players won't be punished when kicked.
If that's truly too hard for BHVR to code, then why not just add a time limit to the match? Matches rarely go past 30 minutes, and if they do, they were probably boring af anyway. Most likely two remaining survivors being as immersed as they can. So let's say we do set the timer to 30 or whatever the reasonable time might be. After that, the match ends like a draw, and everyone can jsut jump to the next one. Problem solved.
If even that is too hard to code, then just remove the stupid penalties for a while. People disconect regardless, and if not, they kill themselves on hook. If you save them in time, they might go afk, run straight back to the killer or start sabotaging the game by dropping pallets or blowing up gens. If someone wants to leave, they will. It can't be stopped. And with that being the case, isn't it simply wiser to just remove the feature until the hostage situation is solved?

There is already a time limit. After around 2 hours everyone gets automatically kicked. I´d say they should reduce it to at least 45 minutes so if someone has no other platforms they don´t have to wait that long until they can play again. 30 minutes would probably be viable too but i had matches that lasted over 30 minutes just cause the last 2 kept hiding the whole time not even trying to do the last gen so 45 would be the best in my opinion.

These hackers are so immature and have no life. I played with 2 of my friends and a random and we all got downed simultaneously by a deathslinger killer 5 seconds after the start of the trial. He was also able to teleport to where we were hiding and it looks like he was also using wall hacks. He even trash talked me in the end game chat and asked to follow his "twitch". It turns out he was impersonating another streamer. When I visited this twitch streamer he said that they played with another player and he got pissed and started hacking his game and his friends.

I found your channel 1-2 months ago, & have become an avid viewer. I just wanted to say: when I watch your cheater compilations, I get a huge kick out of the unique way you deal with ‘em. You’ve become my fav DBD creator!(Otz is awesome and all, but you’re just so wholesome and funny my guy) Keep up the good stuff my man! Maybe I’ll hop in a stream one of these days.
A good fix for being held hostage in a game could be where a short period after the endgame collapse completes (around 30 seconds or so) any remaining survivors will be disconnected.
even better: matches have a hard time limit: (arguably in theme of the game: a demon summoned to feed a carniverous fog) 30 minutes: 10 minut timer count down? everryone everything gets a stacking debuff, and just nukes the map.

Dumb idea but after a few minutes of being held hostage it would be funny if the killer could open the hatch and just leave the game
A killer hatch would actually be a funny mechanic, like either if the killer chooses to give up or if the game goes on for long enough a hatch spawns with red energy and they walk in it and leave

Fixing the cheaters is only going to be an issue when their playernumbers drop by a large amount. The dating sim was easily made by giving it to another company to make and generates more money for BHVR

They have been "Working to fix the cheaters" just like how CoD has been doing the same, its been multiple years and they haven't done anything to even ease the cheater issue slightly other than to just say "we are working on it" and ban a few thousand accounts that will be back online within the day because of cheap keys, it being free constantly on Epic and alt accounts

The ‘turning the tables’ idea reminds me of another streamer who did something similar. PotatoLegion, stayed in game with the end game counter going for around 2 hours before the hacker gave up/dc’d; he booted up minecraft and had the hacker cam on and it is a great idea to do something else or use another account when this happens.
Spooks with 4 different platforms to play dbd to hard counter cheaters is the biggest giga chad move of the year
You should do a thing where chat can use channel points to feed the hacker or pet the hacker, etc. Doing that would cause an animation and or sound to play on the hacker-cam.
i've gone like the past 2 years seeing the same amount of hackers i've seen in the past week, this is getting insane.
See I think the best part of this is one of what you said: you're wasting their time. They have to keep moving something to stay there if i've heard right so they have to focus on that instead of going after someone else with that account. They wanna waste you're time, their time is getting wasted too.
The thing with keeping them there is it's kind of like talking to a scam caller. Yeah it interrupts what you're doing, but keeping them there is preventing them from bugging anyone else
As an active mobile player, we have tons of hackers too, fair warning. I think it's awesome you are able to play their game against them. Also love the Bo Burnham shirt.
Blows my mind that the game is designed in such a way that the server, which is running the match at this point, doesn't take precedent and override the client's values whenever calls are made.

I haven’t seen a cheater in dbd in months so they’re definitely targeting you and probably other creators as well which is honestly just insane. I can’t imagine why they would choose that life 🤦🏾♀️ I also think you should still report because even if they’re still able to just make new accounts, behavior is constantly changing the way they do things so maybe and hopefully they’ll come up with a way to find their IP addresses or something and ban them permanently. I’m sure they’re working on it, it just takes time. Sorry you’re going through this and hope it gets resolved!

Can we talk about the DC penalty? I get why some might see the DC penalty as good but for those that don't have great Internet gets disconnected from the match that they did not intentionally leave and gets punished for up to 72 hrs and longer. I think that its just not talked about much and when you try to appeal to explain it was a big misunderstanding they basically tell you it's not there problem you have trash Internet. I'm just fed up I wish they would either fix there DC penalty to were they can recognize when you intentionally leave the game vs when you disconnect due to network issues like I have video proof of me running the killer and get kicked mid chase. Am I the only one that feels this way?
Unfortunately, yes you are. The penalties were instated for players and streamers who would whine and false DC so that they could avoid losing or trying to smurf their accounts. Unfortunately you’ll have to blame those streamers and their mindless sheep that follow them for these practices. The penalties should stay
The problem is that a DC penalty must exist in a game like this, otherwise people can use DCing to deny the killer and advantage by hooking, or opening hatch for their remaining teammate faster etc. No team-based game can allow DCs to go unpunished (though killer side wouldn't need the penalty).
And to your problem specifically, there is no way to distinguish between intentional DC and bad internet, unfortunately. There COULD be a rejoin feature like other games that, so it doesn't kick you out of the game instantly but waits for a few minutes for you to reconnect. Hopefully BHVR looks into that in the long run.

What i think its the best part is that, they try so hard to get you mad and hold you hostage, but at the end they are the ones being hold hostage. Bc as you said, you change platform and keep going, while they just sit there looking like a dumb dumb floating in the air. More creators should do the same. Having PS to PC to mobile to switch. Its 4 times that they have to get you, to actually do something to you. And still you would probably turn the tables and keep milking them. keep the good vids, love ya!

I'm currently playing on mobile and it also has a bit of a hacker problem. And what sucks about it is that you can't report them at all!
You should make otzdarvas thing where you hide the survivors in the lobby to the stream maybe its gonna help with them not being entirely sure if theyre in the right lobby. A stream delay could help too so they dont know when to join
Honestly your solution for dealing with cheaters is actually honourable. Not giving them what they want and keeping them either held there for ages doing nothing, or shamefully quitting and being utterly embarrassed in front of everybody. Honestly the idea of you getting held in 3 different games and just playing on DbD mobile sounds hilarious, but hopefully this is a sign to the hackers that this will have no effect on you and it’s all just a waste of time.
If your pc can handle it, can always get a lightweight virtual machine and open another instance of dbd in there, lets you play 2 games of dbd on pc simultaneously. Just another option if you're hostage on both console and pc

Man, I encountered my first cheater a couple days ago, and he was using slight speed hacks I think, and I still got him to death hook if I remember right. Once it was 2 left, he started flying around and running past lithe speed while crouching, and finished the last 2 gens and gates. The fact I had 10 hooks vs a hacker made me satisfied. Sucks that streamers have to go against these hackers who refuse to try to win the game, and have so much free time to genuinely waste hours holding people hostage

Make sure to get it for Epic Games, Steam, and Microsoft Store and every other platform you can too. You get enough of them and you'll be able to do a 30 minute routine (Servers Tend to timeout a match @ around 30 minutes.. I've been told)

Yeah also with the disconnecting thing behavior apparently said that fog whisperers only would not suffer I have not encountered cheaters yet and I hope I don’t because I hate the idea of being stuck in a game due to someone having no skill and barely anything close to a life to the point that they are willing to waste time and money only to cheat on a game
As a Switch DBD player, ordinarily just turning off cross-play would immediately derail any shot hackers would have of targeting but DBD on the Switch is not as strong as PC, PlayStation or Xbox especially with lack of cross-progression. Of the 4 years playing DBD: I've only had one encounter with a cheater and that was this year so make do with that how you will. Hopefully BHVR can actually pull their weight and try to sort this mess out because it is just pitiful that some people have nothing better to do in their lives than to make others miserable and ruin the game even more.

The fun part is, that bhrv uses anticheat on pc. An implementation of anticheat, that does not run on linux. So you have anticheat which prevents people from playing on the Steam Deck
and it's not working anyway.
