- The Saints of Marymount University challenged the Lancaster Bible College Chargers. Diego Pena, Devon Robinson, and helped pace the Saints past the Chargers in three efficient sets.
Christian Herr (PME Volleyball) and company kept it close through two sets until the Saints pulled away earlier in the third to take the sweep.
Watching PME get smoked is my new favourite thing

#1 was the best hitter for the saints, good block tooling and hitting. Props to the saints setter as well, some of those points wouldn't have been possible without the decoy plays and set quality. Serves to bring up set 1 set point of saints #10 was insane.

why is this better then D1 volleyball??
Because their attackers are not as effective as a D1 player would be so they rally more. Any d1 team would make quick work of both of these teams.

Pme needs to go one tempo quicker on all his sets, a setter beats blockers, and his is just a bit tagging to where the black team offensive tempo is faster so they’re being effective and defensive, almost a double every set. Idk maybe that’s what his coach wants or his hitters can’t go faster or want it that way, but fs a faster tempo offensive would be more efficient

personally, i don't mind a bit slower sets, i know each one has their preferences, but i like to have time to actually see the enemy court and blocks while approaching, it makes hitting easier, so it could be that the Hitters asked for a slower set, but i do agree faster tempo is more efficient
I agree that having faster setts would be useful. The problem is that not everyone can hit a fast set. The faster you try to set your spikers, the more likely you and the spiker are to mess up.

@@rapha6632 slower sets are bad at a higher level because than your hitters have to face a double block every time which isnt fun, even if its easier to hit

20 likes on this comment and I’ll post the full game. Just takes a long time to do, and nearly a full day to upload to TH-cam but will do if a lot of people are interested.
I usually try and cut out the missed serves and quick first ball misses to keep the content mostly the good action. But I appreciate the feedback, I will try and keep a balance of teams in future videos.

Something easily overlooked during crazy matches like these is the consistency on receives. Saints did a great job getting balls high and to the setter, that said they were definitely the better team all around

Don’t blame it all on Pme. His team couldn’t play defense that well plus the fact that marymount is superior in every way doesn’t make it any more easier. Marymounts 2 outsides we’re killing the blockers making it so that the opposite hitter will guarantee only have 1 blocker on him. Plus the fact that Lancaster had a smaller OH blocking doesn’t help at all. All that pressure goes to the setters head no matter how confident he is in his skills. I think his setting was fair for the situation that he was in but he made the wrong choices sometimes. Other times he had no choice but to set his OH. And as a OH ur expected to be the point scorer.

what division is this because this is more intense than most D1 games i watch
Division III
There are a lot more rallies here than in D1 as the hitters there are much taller and more efficient. Here the defense exceeds the attack in many ways it seems but at higher levels the attack is frequently unstoppable. It is not as fun to watch sometimes when it is little rallies though.
I promise you any D1 team will make quick work of both of these teams.

It's a great sport! Still a lot of fun outdoors, beach, and club as well.
Libero was a bit sleepy on PMEs team, sets were too low especially for the big man in the middle and I think libero just had a bad game.

He’s a great player! Definitely connected well on a lot of plays. Passing might’ve also played a part in some of the setting options.

Gotta agree lol. I follow him on tik tok and had thought he’d be pretty good, but he’s kinda mediocre.. He was playing pretty icky for the first like half of the video. Lots of spin on most of his set, some of which you could call doubles on, and I think he was just way too extra with his movement and technique which could have played a part in it. He did clean it up a bit midway through the video tho

Coming from Canada, I’m impressed with the athleticism of all the players but am surprised to see a lack of volleyball iq from a few areas. The red team frequently has no block for the right side and overall the players are positioned in basic areas. A decent high school here can read the plays better. Must be a difference in coaching. Some fundamentals seem a bit lacking but the skill and strength is mostly there. Good game
to be fair its low level cause its low tier division 3

The Chargers Libero needs to practice positioning ha usually stands 2x1 when the balls come 2x2 so he needs to stand wider into the court
Pme is showing wheres his setts are gone go, mbs are just doing the ir job very easily, maybe speeding up his tempo would help
Pme isn't worse or better than the number 20 in black, all that's different is the spikers ability to take advantage of line shots, the pace is much better but I think that's due to the spikers if you noticed watching the oppisite and outside even when given high sets don't get the best approaches which creates weaker easier to recieve spikes. Overall the Black team is just better OTTN
I would disagree. Although neither are outstanding setters I would say Marymount setter has better location, tempo/connection, and also better decision making but all of this may also be down to coaching or their system. 20 also appears to give his hitters more favorable balls but that may just be down to chemistry
