    I used it in fortification for a mead I made worked out well and didn't mess with the flavors. Definitely recommend using it in that regard

    From a pure availability standpoint, it has to be Havana Club 3. Cheap, but substantial upgrade for not much more (or even same price!). Plus, it's also easy to find litre bottles, again for not much. But the cherry on top? Proper strength at 40% ABV. An issue with Cubay and Santiago de Cuba is that they are only 38% ABV, unfortunately.

    I've been doing a 50-50 blend of Flor de Caña Extra Seco and SelvaRey White for my daiquiris. The FdC is super bright where the SelvaRey is very smooth and almost marshmallow-y, so when blended they reach a happy middle ground.

    interesting and liking Jay's choices, he knows what to do clearly. I'm currently looking to find a regular stock white rum or two that i like as i tried plenty at rumfest and enjoyed them all

    Love a Daiquiri. I really enjoy these with slightly aged rum as well. Worthy select is really good.

    I do agree Steve. I do. But can understand why people buy the bacardi 17 quid in asda for a litre. Most other white/silver rums 25 quid and upwards a bottle. So quite a big difference. 8 quid less for more rum is why it is so popular.

      Yeah, I don't use Bacardi when I'm making daiquiris for myself. But when I'm making them for a bunch of people, it's hard to argue with the price of the Bacardi. Most of the rums listed here are about $20-25usd for a 750ml around me, meanwhile the Bacardi is $20 for a 1.75L

      Yeah I do the same. Use the plantation or flor de cana for me.

      Here Bacardi superior is $18 for 750 ml, Plantation 3 Star is $21. For $3 more I'm picking Plantation 100% of the time. Edit: I just checked and Chairmans Reserve is $22 and El Dorado 3-year is $23. I'd take any of those over $18 Bacardi anyday.

    Here in Australia,We have a VERY limited range. Watching your channel to hopefully find a rum available here.We can get Bacardi(who cannot?) I can get Plantation 3 and Duppy white. Hoping to learn more

    I'm a big fan of the plantation 3 stars and I also like Havana club white myself. I've found it harder to find white rum in UK supermarkets recently, I check in sainsbury and tesco regularly and they have basically given up on white rum, regularly just bacardi and Wray and nephew on sale.

    Saw another cocktail TH-cam channel suggest you stock Bacardi for daquaris because ‘it’s just like lime candy’. And my thought was why not just make a lime vodka sour. I should try the Bacardi daquari next to it, not sure I’d be able to taste the difference 😅

    If I serve a Daquiri for a rum rookie, I go for Don Q Cristal. Personally I am more into cane juice rhums.

    I dont drink rum neat, mostly mix with it, But I did recently try some of my El Dorado 3 year, and for a $20 bottle of rum, its incredible. I loved the vanilla notes I was getting and it went down really smooth.

    I really like Planas and the 3-Stars for neat-sipping. Don't matter that they are "white", they are nice and pleasant and sufficiently flavourful.

    3 current favorite "Blanco Daiquris" would be:
    * Clement Canne Bleue
    * Kingston 62
    And for some awkward unknown reason the Emperor Lily White Mauritius Rum. On itself it's not spectacular but the bottle always seems to dry out quite fast. Of course Plantation 3 star is always in the mix, the rum-bar as well but those 3 are currently the "go to" ones.

    Banks 5, Streamertail, Chairman’s Reserve and the Cubay are my favs. For more fun split base the Daq with the Boutique Sig Blend 1 and maybe Langs Banana or the Mango and Ginger

    The biggest downfall of Bacardi is the ABV.
    Bacardi has a very particular flavour that I wish for more of every now and again. The Heritage was a good product.
    For £14 a litre in Duty Free, I’ll keep it in stock but it’s far from a favourite.

      If you ever go to Europe, the Heritage version is still available.

    For daiquiri i prefer el dorado 3, 3 star would be 2nd choice. Don't have access to cubay.

    You know it's a bad rum when the people in San Juan don't even drink it. I'm not kidding go to Puerto Rico and ask for Rum they will never give you Bacardi unless you explicitly ask for it

    The Real McCoy 3 year old makes a nice Daiquiri. I also enjoy Cruzan Aged Light Rum in a traditional Daiquiri and for a change of pace Wray and Nephew "Whites" can make an interesting Daiquiri.
    However, I still buy Bacardi silver and really enjoy their Ocho as I will support any company or organization that actively opposes the socialist entities on the planet. For the same reason I will never buy the rum formerly known as Plantation with their gratuitous woke BS.

    When I started to dabble in home bartending last summer I quickly realized that, with very few exceptions, supermarkets don't carry the brands and products used by professionals. I also quickly came to appreciate the absence of hang-overs due to the vastly superior quality. Anyway, while I have the 8y/o Bacardi as well as the white overproof one ("Superior") I don't think I've ever tasted, let alone owned, any of the regular supermarket varieties. Really, do spend a bit more for exponentially better quality, especially regarding how long a bottle lasts 👍

    bacardi. too little flavour to qualify as a rum
    also too little flavour to qualify as a vodka
