I miss the repeated playback everytime you hit an opponent like in Tekken Tag 1, like it's bad enough you or the other guy lose but now you gotta witness it 3 more times.
Never again will the movement and, by extension, gameplay be this good. There was no tailspin, no rage, no unnecessarily long juggles, and absolutely no power gauges and/or super moves. Is it any wonder some people consider Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection the peak of the series?
I played T5 again recently... The movements are somewhat "Iconic". Each character have their own punishment that is not a launch (which lead to juggle). But older game tends to be clunkier and stiff... I guess that's why the ramped up the juggling combo in every Tekken afterward. And I do feel that T7 is more engaging to casuals, because there are less exploit move (like Steve in this video), and putting a complete juggle is satisfying. But I think T8 implement this mechanic way too abusive.
i doubt they would go back to the roots, we are not the target of the game, they have to target youngsters/casuals to sell the game sadly if u know what i mean
@@holden6104 man youre not at the skill level required to have any of these things even subatancially matter If they toned down the armor on power crushes and removed the armor on rage arts the game would be fine. You just dont like getting hit by those. Doesnt make the game worse.
One of the few features of Tekken from 6 onwards that I would say is actually a positive addition; comebacks were less likely back then because something like Rage didn't exist. We don't need 2D characters, Rage Drives, or Super Arts, however; those are copouts. Same with Bound, the new Wakeup Mechanics (No Backrolling? Come on), and Screw - all worthless additions.
I still have my old Ps3 w T5DR downloaded, and I bust it out like a few times a week. The music, stages and gameplay are all top tier, and holy shit I struggle past Fujin against bots, it’s actually sooo much fun 🙏
Point is if you buff movement too much the best strategy will become turtling to make the opponent whiff, and that doesn't seem super-exciting to play or to watch either

For me that's a very nice example of balancing movement in a game that in my view being a fighting game should reward fighting more than defence.
Gonna disagree about rage from everyone else here. The way it was handled in Tag 2 and T6 were good. But Rage Drive / Art? Nah. You used ot be ale to have ways of mitigating it. In t7 it's guranteed to get activated.

For me I want watch a back and forth fight. Fuck movement. The life bar should be two and a half times stronger, and you should have three changes to get out of a combo. Use all three no rage or rage art. Each combo brake different weaker rage art. 300 likes.

I missed when Tekken prioritized movement over juggles.
I miss the arcade scene in the 2000's. Also, comeback wins felt better since Rage mechanics didn't exist back then.
