    • @kikishome8293
      @kikishome8293 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you for your comment, I’ll leave you with some facts that are stated on www.gov.uk & Cps.gov.uk
Controlling or coercive behaviour is an insidious form of domestic abuse that can destroy lives.
Domestic abuse is not always physical violence. It can also include:
      -coercive control and ‘gaslighting’
      -economic abuse
      -online abuse
      -threats and intimidation
      -emotional abuse
      -sexual abuse
(Most of these I have encountered at multiple points of the relationship)
Anyone can be a victim of domestic abuse, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion, socio-economic status, sexuality or background.
If you believe that you are a victim of domestic abuse, there are signs that you can look out for including: (hopefully these signs will help someone who was confused as I was)
-being withdrawn, or being isolated from your family and friends
-having bruises, burns or bite marks on you
-having your finances controlled, or not being given enough to buy food, medication or pay bills
-not being allowed to leave your house, or stopped from going to college or work
-having your internet or social media use monitored, or someone else reading your texts, emails or letters
-being repeatedly belittled, put down or told you are worthless
-being pressured into sex or sexual contact
-being told that abuse is your fault, or that you’re overreacting(it’s a shame that this element of this abuse is being enabled by some of the comments on here, thank God my experience has taught me thick skin)
Domestic abuse does not always have to be physical to be prosecuted - sometimes victims may not even be aware it is happening.
It can include any behaviour deployed by an offender to obtain control or power over another, and we recognise that emotional abuse can be just as harmful as physical violence.
But even when a victim has reported abuse to the police, there are complex reasons they may not see through a prosecution - love, shame, guilt, isolation, fear of the process and language barriers to name just a few.
The level of victim attrition is one of the reasons these cases can be difficult to prosecute. That is why we are working so hard at the CPS and across the criminal justice system to improve the experience and provide protection for these victims and their children.
Maybe this may be too much information for small minded people to take in but hopefully it can shed some light on how far the voices of survivors have come in the fight for justice.
