Unfortunately, most people don't know the first hearing may not be lead by a judge only judges and magistrates have the power to make orders. Always request district judge if you need interim orders like contact. If claims of abuse are there then magistrates are more likely to pass onto a judge due to gravity of allegations. Either way 2nd hearing he most likely would have hotten interim contact. First directions hearings are usually absolutely pointless. They might as well offer skype options. Lastly if you reject crap contact situations out of pride youre seen as not caring about your child. If you give up... it looks like you don't care enough about your child. Only you can fight to give your child your time. Your child can't do it for themselves.
